Don Sheldon was a high-class pilot who helped to make a complete map of the area of Alaska. He was one of the few professionals who could fly in the harsh cold and land among the winter mountains.
During his next flight, Don noticed a unique place in Denali National Park: it was a relatively small rock where there is a place with a more or less flat surface. It was this place that Sheldon chose, since the territory allowed the plane to land unhindered with the maximum level of safety.
After a while, Don bought her out as a landowner. He got the idea to build a small hotel for tourists among the snow-capped mountains. But, unfortunately, he did not have time to translate his dream into reality: in 1975 he died. After Don's death, his wife practically did not deal with the idea of building a hotel. And after her death in 2014, the heirs of the Sheldons decided to pay tribute to their parents and build a hotel according to her father's idea.
In 2018, Sheldon Chalet opened its doors to guests.
Overnight in a luxury hotel among the mountains
Sheldon Chalet is located at an altitude of almost two thousand meters. Despite its popularity, only ten guests will be able to stay here. The cost of overnight accommodation including transfer to the hotel is $ 2300 per night. By the way, you can get to the famous Sheldon Chalet exclusively by air, by helicopter.

The Kitchen of Sheldon Chalet, like the hotel itself, delights visitors. After all, one of the world's famous chefs Dave Thorne works here. It was he who toured with such celebrities as Justin Timberlake, Keith Urban and the musicians of the band Kings of Leon. An exquisite menu will be a pleasant addition for true gourmets: seafood, oyster barbecue, smoked salmon or halibut ... In addition, the menu is rich in meat dishes that come from Alaskan farmers.
