In Italy, as in most other European countries, in the 8th to 9th grade students complete the course of secondary education. The received certificate with good points makes it possible to continue studying at an Italian university, and when choosing a quality pre-university educational program - and in universities around the world.
Education in Italy after the 10th grade
After the 10th grade, after reaching the age of 16, many students choose the program of the Italian matriculation certificate - Esame di Stato. This program is taught both in Italy and in other Italian-speaking regions of the world (for example, in Switzerland). Students on Esame di Stato are divided into groups of humanitarian and scientific orientation (exact sciences): the first on the successful completion of the course receive a maturità of linguistic maturity (Maturità Linguistica), the second - a certificate of the natural science plan (Maturità Scientifica). Both of them give the right to enter Italian universities to selected faculties.
Also in Italy, some schools offer the opportunity to study under the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. This course is also intended for students from 16 years and is designed for 2 years: in the list of subjects studied there are general, compulsory, and subjects of choice. Thanks to the competent distribution of their forces and the correct choice of elective disciplines, the student significantly increases his chances of successful entry - the IB certificate is accepted all over the world even in prestigious and ranking universities.
