The University of St. Francis Xavier is not such a large educational institution in terms of the number of students. About 5,000 people study here every year. The teaching staff of StFX is about 300 teachers of the highest category. Students and teachers of the university have the opportunity, if they wish, to take part in one of the exchange programs at the international level.

Living Learning Communities bring together students with shared interests who live together and take part in creative programs and academic activities.

The Nursing Living Learning Community is open to first-year students considering nursing or health care. Members take nursing courses, join nursing-related activities, and connect with nursing faculty and educators, student leaders, and alumni.

The campus has residences in Bishops Hall, Cameron Hall, MacKinnon Hall, O'Regan Hall, Riley Hall, Power Hall, Somers Hall, MacIsaac Hall, Governors Hall, Mount Saint Bernard, and FX Hall. Wireless internet is available in every building, and each residence has a laundry room.

FX Hall offers traditional-style single and double rooms. Rooms have twin beds, desks and chairs, wall-mounted storage shelves, and window coverings. The building also has a shared full kitchen.

Trained residence life coordinators and community advisors help students adjust and handle everyday concerns.

Dining options include vegetarian, gluten-free, halal, and kosher meals. The Morrison Hall dining center serves freshly prepared food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Students living in a StFX residence for the first time can indicate their interest in a Living Learning Community in the residence section of the admission application. The university then sends them a brief questionnaire.

Theatre Antigonish is based in the Bauer Theatre building on the StFX campus. Productions typically take place during the fall and spring terms and feature university students, high school students, and Antigonish residents.

Campus resources include two libraries and the Student Success Centre, which offers academic skill development and tutoring. The campus also has a Student Career Centre and a Health and Wellness Centre with counseling services. Career services include career coaching, job-search strategies, and resume advice.

Athletic facilities include two gymnasiums, a pool, a fitness center, a dance studio, two ice surfaces, indoor and outdoor running tracks, and three athletic fields, one with turf.

Established in 1976, the on-campus StFX Art Gallery presents exhibitions and programs featuring artists and arts organizations from northeastern Nova Scotia.

Other campus facilities include cafes, the Campus Store, a licensed child-care facility, a shuttle service, and a bus depot.

Students living in residence pay a flat laundry fee of 150 dollars. The fee provides unlimited access to the laundry machines in their building.

International students are admitted every year by a special commission. Both local residents and foreign students apply for places in a secondary school on the same conditions. Students have a choice - to study full-time or remotely.

Each academic year in this institution of higher education is traditionally divided into two semesters. Students have an opportunity to reduce tuition fee by getting a scholarship for good performance.
