Applications for student visas in America resumed in early July, but problems with passing checks and interviews remained.
For about a month, foreign applicants were on standby when the US government put the work of migration services on pause, and even then there were the first waves of indignation that due to unscheduled restrictions, future students could miss the deadline for submitting documents. Recently, the work of consulates has resumed, but the situation has not improved: hundreds of new applications have been added to the old delayed applications, so there are not enough places for interviews, meetings are postponed or canceled altogether. This is because, together with the security services, an enhanced check of visa candidates, which was previously announced by US President Donald Trump, was launched.
Expert sources say that now 73% of educational centers in America assume that this year the number of foreign students will be significantly lower than usual. 40% of them shared information that current students refuse to continue their studies in the country, although they previously planned to continue research. Applicants from India, Nigeria and China were hit hardest, although these three countries account for the largest number of migrants coming to the United States on study and work visas.
