Kilgraston is a world class boarding and day school offering education for children aged five to eighteen. Our Junior School is co-ed, our Senior School and Sixth Form is girls only.
The setting for the school is in the beautiful Perthshire countryside with its stunning scenery and wildlife. The school campus consists of 54 acres of parkland which provide a tranquil and gentle-paced environment, allowing the pupils both time and space to concentrate without distraction. Nearby towns and villages are easily accessible.
Yet, it is only a one-hour drive to reach Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital and Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city. Both offer a wide range of opportunity to experience the excitement of city life. Cultural trips to theatres, museums and art galleries are frequently arranged.
Our ambition for each pupil is to stimulate and develop the individual character and personality. We believe there should be no limit on either personal or professional ambitions. Each pupil is encouraged to grow, learn and mature in an atmosphere of freedom and opportunity.
We follow the Scottish Examination System of National 5s, Highers and Advanced Highers, with the Advanced Highers considered to be even more complex than A-Levels. In 2020, 100% of our pupils were accepted into their first choice of university, 55% of them went to a prestigious Russell Group university and 48% of leavers went on to study STEM courses.
Kilgraston has first class facilities including an on-site equestrian centre, the only among private schools in Scotland has a modern indoor swimming pool complex, a climbing wall, an international sized all-weather hockey AstroTurf pitch, eight floodlit all-weather tennis courts, extensive playing fields, a superb sports hall and a fitness suite.

Why do parents value British elementary and high schools so much?
These are some of the best learning environments you can find. Teaching methods, qualifications of British schools are recognized all over the world, many have adopted them as a model and standard. As they grow up, the child is given great academic freedom - he can explore, question the facts that he is studying, thereby developing independent, analytical, inquisitive thinking. Students in the UK are always at the center of the learning process, with their individual needs in focus.
Since Britain is the birthplace of English, the language of technology, business and science, parents hope that the development of language skills will make it possible to study any literature (research, teaching), build an academic and professional career.
Accommodation, meals, prices
Kilgraston offers a number of different boarding houses depending on the age of the child.
The Junior Boarding House at Kilgraston School is called Austin and it accommodates the youngest boarders from eight to twelve years of age.
At thirteen years old, most girls are given their own study bedroom in ‘Mater’, the Senior house, allowing them their own space to think, read, study or just enjoy time to themselves.
The Sixth Form has its own boarding houses called Barat and Swinton where each girl has her own room in which she can study, listen to music or just enjoy chatting with friends. Boarding is a great way to learn about new cultures; we currently have students from South America, Asia and Europe.
Living within the main school means that the girls can enjoy the benefits of the whole school whilst still enjoying living within a family environment. The Boarding Mistress aims to create a home from home feeling within the boarding house and the Assistant Boarding Mistress also encourages the girls to utilize the many opportunities that Kilgraston has to offer.
