In 2002, it was decided to establish the Institute of Space Technology (IST) higher education institution, which will deal with specialized space education and related science in order to put Pakistan on a par with the international community. The main educational programs of the university are aimed at the study of aerospace technology and communication systems. IST is one of the top 60 best universities in the country and is a member of the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission of Pakistan (SUPARCO).

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol
For admission to undergraduate programs, one of the following qualification requirements must be met:
- SSC / FSC Pre-Engineering / Equivalent Certificate
- 50% points for NAT-1E / HAT-UG-E / SAT-II (level II in physics, chemistry, mathematics and at least 50% for each subject)
- A-Level / Cambridge / Students with any qualification other than FSC Pre-Engineering must receive an IBCC certificate equivalent to FSC Pre-Engineering, with a total score of 60%
- HSSC.
To enter the master's program, you must meet one of the following qualification requirements:
- BS / BE / equivalent with extensive experience in the aerospace, aviation, aviation, aviation, mechanical, electrical, mechatronic, chemical, manufacturing or materials science and engineering with a minimum CGPA≥2.00 of 4.00 or ≥60%
- GAT-A (total) conducted by NTS in the relevant study area with estimates of ≥50%
- HAT (total) conducted by HEC in the relevant study area with estimates of ≥50%
- GRE International (total) conducted by ETS, with a minimum number of points: quantitative 150, verbal 150, analytical 3.5
To enter doctoral programs, one of the following qualification requirements must be met:
- MS / M.Phil / equivalent with extensive experience in the relevant discipline, preferably in the aerospace, aviation, electrical and engineering industries with a minimum CGPA≥3.00 of 4.00
- GAT (subject) conducted by NTS in the relevant study area with estimates of ≥60%
- GRE International (subject), conducted by ETS, with a minimum score of 60%
- The minimum score is 70% in the GAT type test (subject), conducted by the concerned department in the absence of the GAT / GRE subject option.
