Great Lakes College of Toronto is a certified private high school located in downtown Toronto, Canada. Founded in 1978, over the past 35 years it has amassed experience in teaching high school and high school students from different countries. The educational institution specializes in preparing young people for admission to universities and colleges in North America, teaching English as a second language. Great Lakes College of Toronto (GLCT) is one of the few high schools in Ontario offering five student starts per year. Canada has two main admission periods for universities: September and January, some universities also admit students in May for the summer session, so the program is open year-round.
While studying at the GLCT, students choose a suitable combination of academic courses to expand their knowledge and skills, study interesting courses, determine the type of educational program that is best suited for university / college studies, for admission.
The five-level English Second Language (ESL) program is based on a curriculum developed by the Ontario Department of Education and taught by a staff of highly qualified teachers. This program allows students to acquire effective communication skills, master the 4 main aspects of the language - reading, writing, speaking, listening. It enables students to achieve the level of English required to succeed in high school and university. Students can complete one ESL level in two months.
Since 1994, the college began offering a summer camp for language learning and excursions. The success of the summer camps grew every year, attracting young people from all over the world. The Summer Camp program allows students to learn and practice English as a Second Language (ESL) and visit major attractions in Toronto and other areas of Ontario.
Students living in hostels, off-campus or in a homestay are provided with a table, chair, bed, bedding, wardrobe, refrigerator.
The cafeteria is open to students all year round and provides three meals a day from Monday to Friday, a varied selection of meals daily.
Students participate in school activities such as field trips, school clubs, recreational sports, university visits, and organized travel.
The GLCT campus is located near downtown Toronto in the North High Park area. Near High Park, the largest park in Toronto, in the heart of a prestigious residential area, close to subway and TTC bus lines, public library, supermarkets, banks, shopping centers.
The campus has a science lab, drama hall, art studio, gym, laundry facilities and free Wi-Fi.
Students must apply 2-5 months prior to the start of the semester so that the Canadian Embassy has enough time to process their student visa applications.
