In 1993, the Tartu Aviation College was founded, which in 2008 underwent reorganization and received the status of a higher educational institution. The main goal of the Academy is to educate flight personnel in secondary technical and higher education programs.
The educational process is modular:
- During the first year of study, students are taught basic general subjects
- Second year - specialized aviation items
- Further education - the acquisition of practical skills, including flight practice.

Facilities and equipment at Estonian Aviation Academy
To practice practical flying skills, the university has 7 aircraft and 3 helicopters on its balance sheet. In addition, flight simulators are installed at the university, which completely repeat the real technique and make it possible to work out all regular and non-staff situations.
The classrooms of the university are equipped with modern computers and office equipment.
The largest aviation library in Estonia for students and teachers operates on the basis of the university: in its fund there are about 7000 rare editions, documents, periodicals. One of the library's missions is to familiarize students with the latest research and development in aviation science. For the convenience of students, the library has a reading room with unlimited time.
On the campus there is a cafe and a gym.

In order to become a student of a paid form of study, you must provide:
- Military Commission Admission
- High school diploma
- Certificate of English proficiency.
Education at the academy is possible on a budgetary basis: for this it is necessary to choose the Estonian language as the main language of instruction and draw up a program with at least 240 credits.

The Estonian Aviation Academy provides assistance and support to students:
- If the student visited museums, exhibitions, conferences related to the flight sphere, he will be reimbursed for the money spent.
- Students whose family income is lower than 458 € / month and their academic performance is 75% positive can count on assistance in the amount of 75 to 220 €
- Successful full-time students can apply for a monthly scholarship of 175 € on the university’s website
- Estonian citizens with an average score of higher than 4.0, full-time students, can expect a monthly scholarship of 100 €.
The Estonian Aviation Academy is participating in the international exchange program Erasmus +. Successful students can:
- To receive part-time education at partner universities during the year
- Take an internship that lasts 2-12 months.
Another area is graduation practice at partner universities, which can last 3-12 months.
Partner universities include flight schools in Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, the Republic of Macedonia, and Turkey.
