ESSEC describes the opening in Mumbai as the first step toward long-term development in India — the new center is expected to:
- Strengthen ties with Indian universities,
- Develop partnerships with companies,
- Support alumni relations,
- Help launch joint educational programs.
India was a natural choice for ESSEC due to its strong economy and large pool of talented professionals. For example, other campuses already have 450+ students from India. Mumbai is the country's financial and business hub, home to major companies, banks, startups, and industrial enterprises.
ESSEC is already developing partnerships with Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and Indian School of Business, with plans for a dual degree program issuing diplomas from both ESSEC and IIM Bangalore, as well as expanding student mobility. Through the new hub, ESSEC plans to develop interdisciplinary fields, including:
- Entrepreneurship,
- Data analytics,
- Business analytics,
- Artificial intelligence,
- Management.
In the coming months, the French company will begin searching for office space in Mumbai, where the school's team will be based, and where student study trips, workshops, and programs for corporate partners will take place.
