Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

You can apply for admission to Carleton University online, through the Ontario Universities' Application Center or the official representative of the university through the Ontario Provincial Admissions Office.

According to the general requirements, if a student enters a university immediately after graduation, he is obliged to provide a secondary education diploma (some departments set a minimum average score for admission).

Students from other educational institutions have the right to transfer to Carleton University if the established requirements for admission are met: submit an application, confirm the level of knowledge of a foreign language, provide grades for the last years of study.

For Russians and foreigners who do not have English as their first language, there are several conditions for admission to CU :

  • Pass the language exam:

- Minimum 70 points on the results of the CAEL exam (The Canadian Academic English Language)

- At least 6.5 points for IELTS exam results

- At least 86 points for TOEFL iBT

- Passing other language exams (ESLA, MELAB, PTE) in compliance with the minimum requirements for the number of points.

  • Sign up for an additional specialized ESLR course, if the number of language exam scores is not enough for enrollment, and after completing it, continue studying on the main academic program.
