Canadian McGill University, the UAE and Indonesia have joined forces in a large-scale project worth $12.8 million. Its goal — to support talented Indonesian specialists in key economic sectors, improve professional preparation of personnel in sustainable development, infrastructure, healthcare and teacher education.
The project is called «UAE-Indonesia Future Leaders Program» and is designed for 5 years. The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation is responsible for funding. Participants in the initiative include the Indonesian Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Universities of Indonesia, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Zayed and Khalifa: all of them offer scholarships, professional programs for teachers and research grants.
McGill University has many years of experience collaborating with Indonesian institutions, and now this connection is becoming even stronger as the Canadian university will become a center for preparing educators, researchers and professionals for the needs of Indonesia. This creates close ties between Emirati and Indonesian universities.
