What is the Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)?
Biometric Residence Permit is proof of the owner's right to stay at work or training in the UK . It contains biographical (name, date and place of birth) and biometric data (face image and fingerprints), is an indicator of immigration rights and status for the entire duration of the alien's stay in the UK.
Permit is issued to nationals of countries that are not members of the European Union and the European Economic Area (EEA) and grants them the right to enter the United Kingdom for 6 months or more.
Biometric Residence Permit can be used as a form Identification: the owner does not have to carry a permit with him all the time, but he must show it at the border (along with the passport), when traveling outside the country and when returning to the UK.
When will I receive my BRP?
If you have received an entry permit for a period of 6 months - for example, to obtainHigher education in the UK - You will receive the Biometric Residence Permit upon arrival in the country.
You will be issued a temporary visa in your passport - the so-called vignette, it will be valid for 30 days from the commencement of your Course. For courses that require the arrival of a student a month before the beginning of the course, the visa will start one month before the start date of the course specified in the CAS. If the visa is issued less than one month before the start date of the course, its validity will start from the date of issue - therefore, those who arrive after the start date of the course due to visa delays must, before the last possible date of registration, enter the UK before the term Vignettes will expire. Vignette is only proof that you are allowed to enter the UK: if you do not make a trip within 30 days, the vignette expires, and you will have to make out a new one with a re-payment.
The full conditions of stay in the country are registered on your BRP, which must be collected upon arrival in the UK.
Where do I take my Biometric Residence Card?
