Yokohama National University (YNU) was founded in 1949 from Yokohama High School, an educational institution for continuing professional education teachers in Kanagawa Prefecture, Yokohama Graduate School of Commerce and Yokohama High School of Technology. Currently, the university offers 4 undergraduate courses (education and humanities, economics, business administration, engineering) and 4 - graduate programs (education, social sciences, engineering, environment and information sciences). The university employs over 1000 teachers and about 10,000 students. Since 2004, YNU has started a new life as a national university corporation, based on over fifty years of history and tradition.
