Australia's University of Wollongong is preparing to open its first campus in India on November 4 in New South Wales, in the central business district of GIFT City. It is the second Australian university that develops the educational sector in India.
UOW offers graduate programs to students, including a master's degree in computer science and financial technology. A bachelor's degree or relevant work experience and English language proficiency are required to apply to these programs. Since February 2024, when the Indian branch began accepting applications, UOW has received more than 700 requests for educational programs, each of which is designed for 50 places.
Additional advantages of the new UOW branch in India for local students will be scholarship opportunities: for women leaders in the field of fintech and the InAugural program. The former provides a 50% tuition discount for women interested in a career in fintech, while the latter provides a 50% tuition discount for all master's programs during the first trimester and 25% for graduate certificate programs during the first trimester.
According to Nimayu Kalyani, Director of UOW India, the university's goal is to make high-quality international education accessible to all. The Indian branch has already teamed up with IBM, which will give students access to the company's innovative educational centers, where they can study the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity and blockchain. Experience with such innovative technologies and methods is a strong advantage for further employment of students.
