University of North Florida (UNF)

The University of North Florida (abbreviated UNF) is an educational institution of a state type in America, which has been actively engaged in scientific and academic activities since the 1972. The main university building is now located on the Jacksonville campus.

It is a medium-sized university with about 19,000 students annually. Foreign students and local residents simultaneously apply for places at the university. Teaching staff consists of 3000 teachers of the highest category.

This higher education institution is considered to be a member of various associations and groups, which include the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the Florida State University system, sports associations and memberships: National Collegiate Sports Association.

Student life is vibrant: the university has more than 200 clubs and student organizations, and amateur sports are well developed. 19 sports teams «Ospreys» compete for the university in NCAA Division I (ASUN conference).

The university campus is located in Jacksonville (Florida) and is surrounded by a nature reserve: it features miles of walking trails, Ogier Gardens, a ropes course with a zipline, and its own obstacle course. Admission is conducted in several waves, so it is recommended to submit documents in advance. In addition to the main admission for the fall and spring semesters, admission is conducted for the summer trimester, within which the Osprey First freshman orientation program operates.

The university focuses on graduate employment: about 80% of them remain working in Florida, around 70% — in the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The university ranks first in the state university system by the share of graduates employed in Florida, and is considered the largest supplier of qualified personnel in the northeast of the state.

A special admission committee conducts a recruitment of students based on previous exams that have passed and the academic performance of each applicant. According to statistics, about 70 percent of applications are approved.

Tuition fees at the University of North Florida

The academic year at the university is traditionally divided into two semesters. Each student can save a little on tution fees by receiving a scholarship, provided they do well. Students have a choice: to study in person or remotely. In addition, if you wish, you can always take part in student and teacher exchange programs at the international level.

The university offers scholarships and financial aid.

To receive federal financial support, you must submit a FAFSA application after official enrollment. Participants in the Osprey First summer program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are awarded a scholarship for the fall semester. In addition, some out-of-state students have access to tuition reduction programs, thanks to which tuition may end up lower than in their home state.
