One of the most famous statues in the world is the Statue of Liberty in New York, whose height is 46 meters. And even if it is not the tallest in the world, in terms of recognition and fame, it belongs to the first place - but not on our list (it lacks 30 meters to get here). There is also no Brazilian statue of Christ the Redeemer (31 meters).
The smallest on this list reaches 85 meters - ¾ the size of a football field. We present these colossi and their whereabouts.

Colossus of Mercy Kannon, Japan
Kannon is a Japanese goddess, known in the Chinese pantheon as Guanyin - the goddess of mercy. Located on Awaji Island in Japan, the tallest statue in this part of the country.
The 100 meter high statue resembles a huge lighthouse overlooking the Osaka Bay. Awaji Island is located in Hyoto Prefecture, west of Osaka and south of Kobe. The statue sits on a 23 meter high stylobate - a five-story building! - which was often visited by tourists before. Since 2006, the museum has been closed and is under reconstruction after the earthquake.
Statue of Unity, India
At the end of 2018, the title of the tallest statue in the world was officially awarded to the Unity of India Statue. At least 50 meters older than the previous record holder, the Statue of Unity rises above all existing statues from a height of 182 meters. It was erected in honor of Vallabhabai Patel, the iron chancellor of India, a lawyer who became the political and social leader of the new state.
The Statue of Unity is located near the Narmada Dam on the Narmada River, through the cities of Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad. The statue is open to tourists from 8 am to 6 pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
Spring Buddha Temple, China
The Zhongyuan Buddha statue, also known as the Spring Buddha Temple , reaches a height of 128 meters. The statue is placed on a Diamond seat and a Lotus throne , which increases the overall height of the structure to 208 meters.

Ushiku Daibutsu, Japan
The Usyku statue of Buddha Amitabha is another masterpiece of Buddhist architecture on the Japanese islands. Shinran founded the Japanese branch of Buddhism: in honor of this achievement in 1993, a colossal monument was erected in his honor in Ibarake Prefecture, Tsukuba City. The height is 110 meters, but together with the lotus platform, it reaches 130 meters.
A popular tourist route includes a tour of the Lotus Sanctuary, home to at least 3,000 golden Buddhas. Tsukuba is located 50 kilometers north of the Japanese capital Tokyo.

Until 1962, the house of this famous statue was named Stalingrad, but now it is known as Volgograd. This city played a tragic and majestic role in the Great Patriotic War - an episode of the Eastern Front of World War II, where the Soviet army made a decisive contribution to the defeat of Hitler's Germany.

Great Buddha Lingshan, China
The Great Buddha Lingshan is a recognized landmark and tourist destination in the city of Wuxi in eastern China, not far from Shanghai. Another iron goddess of mercy, Guanyin, in this article was completed 35 years ago and was considered the tallest statue in the world in the late 80s and early 90s.
