Fortunately, the period of silence of the American consulates did not last long: they are again accepting applications for a student visa to the United States!
However, applicants (for F, M, and J visas, that is, applicants to American educational institutions, and participants in educational exchanges) are now checked many times more carefully than before, in particular, their online activity. The visa officer will request access to the applicant's social networks, use search engines and databases. If an applicant refuses to open their profiles, this will raise suspicions: what views, thoughts, and plans are you hiding? It is unlikely that the consular officer will let you in after that and give you a visa.
Through such checks, as stated in the statement of the State Department, political activists will be "caught" (what if they plan to conduct their activities in America?), opponents of the current American government/citizens/culture/government/national principles/institutions, supporters of terrorists, anti-Semites. They say that the FBI has long warned the State Department that some foreign countries can send their "agents" to study at American universities in order to take possession of valuable technical information, advanced developments and research, and at the same time undermine American society from within.
It should be noted that these requirements will apply to everyone: even if you already had an American visa, wait for a new check.
This demand was extended by a special telegram to all U.S. embassies and consulates around the world. They have only 5 days to prepare for a new procedure. The offices of organizations strongly doubt that they will be able to process the same flow of applications as before.
