University of St.Gallen
The University of St. Gallen has been part of St. Gallen for more than a hundred years, developing first as a business academy and then becoming a classical university. The university gives students the opportunity to benefit from the perfect combination of research and hands-on experience.

St. Gallen University of Teacher Education

Currently, 1,200 students are being trained at PHSG, preparing to become teachers in compulsory education and in vocational schools.

The three universities of applied sciences in the canton of St. Gallen – FHS St. Gallen, HSR Rapperswil and NTB Buchs – merged on 1 September 2020 into OST, University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland.
OST is the University of Applied Sciences of the six cantons of Eastern Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, the educational center of the region, in which about 3800 students study at six faculties, 1500 professionals in the field of leadership preparation, more than 1000 ongoing research projects are carried out.
