SUSU begins its activity in 1934 and is the only pedagogical university in the Chelyabinsk region. Its member scientific schools, experienced teachers and scientists make it a leading organization that educates sought-after specialists and actively broadcasts pedagogical innovations.

The scientific activity of the university is realized thanks to the work of scientific centers:

The main objective of the SUSU Scientific Work Department is to plan and coordinate research work, build up the scientific potential of the university and ensure the interaction of its structural units in the field of scientific, scientific, technical and innovative activities.

• Since 1958, SUSPU has published the newspaper "Young Teacher", the authors of whose articles are both professional specialists and students, teachers and employees of the university.
• SUSU teachers are honorary professors who have the appropriate titles for fruitful scientific and educational activities, a significant contribution to the development of educational policy, the formation and promotion of the university's image.

The university has 3 dormitories.

On the basis of the Institute of Additional Creative Pedagogical Professions there are creative teams: ensembles of ballroom, folk, modern, pop dance, sacred music, international and vocal ensembles, student theater and fashion theater, as well as a tourist club.

SUSU students start their studies on September 1 and finish the academic year in accordance with the curriculum for a specific area of education. The learning process lasts 6 days a week according to the curriculum and the schedule of classes.

Additional expenses, in accordance with the additional education provided by the university:

Together with the application for admission, the applicant provides:

Terms of the admission campaign (for full-time bachelor's programs):

• the start of accepting applications is June 20;
• completion of the reception of documents from applicants undergoing additional entrance tests of creative and (or) professional orientation - July 20;
• completion of the reception of documents from applicants undergoing other entrance tests conducted by the university independently - July 20;
• completion of the reception of documents from applicants entering without entrance tests conducted by the university independently, as well as from applicants without entrance tests - July 25;
• completion of the entrance examinations conducted by the university independently - July 25.

For full-time master's programs, the deadline for completing the reception of documents is July 20, by correspondence - October 25.

SUSU actively promotes the employment of graduates. The university has a process aimed at providing consulting, organizational, informational, legal and other types of assistance, including graduates who are looking for work. The university's website constantly publishes current vacancies from employers, recommendations on employment issues, information about competitions aimed at promoting professional socialization and a list of documents necessary for further employment.  Also on the basis of the university there is a Center for Assistance to Employment of Graduates.

Persons with the appropriate education, confirmed by a document on secondary general, secondary vocational or higher education and on qualifications (for admission to bachelor's programs), and a document on higher education and qualifications (for admission to master's programs) are allowed to master's programs.

Admission to the university takes place on a competitive basis: according to the results of the Unified State Exam, which is equated to the result of the entrance examinations (for the bachelor's degree, except for persons who have the right to admission without entrance tests) and (or) according to the results of the entrance tests that the university conducts independently (for the magistracy).
