Middle Years Programme

  • Age — from 11 to 16 years old,

The secondary education program, based on the International Baccalaureate system, is an academically rigorous curriculum lasting 5 years. During this time, students will study 8 subject groups, implying a wide variety of disciplines: natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, mathematics, computer science, languages, technology, and others. An important aspect of the training is the arts and sports – some of the activities are included in the program as compulsory.

In the last two years of secondary school, students prepare for the transition to an important stage of school education: the IB Diploma program. They choose the subjects they are most interested in and can study them at a more in-depth level beforehand.

At the end of secondary school, students are fully prepared for admission to the IB DP, are clearly aware of their interests, and have developed personal and social qualities.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

The IB Diploma programme is a two-year study aimed at preparing you for university enrolment. A diploma earned upon graduation is accepted at most top universities around the world and is considered one of the most competitive.

Over the course of two years, students will study individually selected subjects from 6 profile groups + take three compulsory electives: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) course. Through these core components, students reflect on the nature of knowledge, conduct independent research, and complete a project that often involves community service.

Subject groups are thematic, they contain disciplines for standard or in-depth study. Students need to choose up to six subjects from the same six groups:

  1. Language and Literature,
  2. Second foreign language,
  3. Society and individuals,
  4. Science
  5. Mathematics
  6. Art.

The training ends with passing exams and presenting a project on electives.

Summer Course: Pre-IB and Mid-IB Courses

  • Age — from 15 to 18 years old,
  • The dates are June 23-July 20.

The Summer Course is designed for all students between the ages of 15 and 18 interested in pursuing an International Baccalaureate Diploma. Students have the opportunity to study not only full-time, but also receive up to five individual online lessons to continue their program after the end of the course.

The Pre-IB course is suitable for students aged 15-16 who are starting a diploma program and strive for academic, personal success. The curriculum is designed for 3-5 core subjects with the possibility of expansion (up to two additional disciplines).

The Diploma Class Course is for high school students who are beginning their final year at school. The program is designed to help students gain confidence in their chosen subjects even before the start of the academic year.

The subjects available for study in both courses are presented in the following subject groups:

  • Language Proficiency: English, French, Spanish,
  • Individuals & Society: History, Business, Management, Geography,

Summer Course: Irish Experience Camp

This programme provides a great opportunity for children to combine their English classes at SEK Dublin with exciting leisure and sporting activities, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in Irish culture. Students will be able to choose one of the following sports in combination with English language classes:

Summer Course: Formentera and Dublin, Summer Course in Formentera and Dublin

  • Age — from 13 to 17 years old,
  • The duration of the training is two weeks.

The unique course gives students the opportunity to embark on a sea voyage across the Mediterranean Sea on a 50-metre schooner in the first week, and then have fun and benefit on the school's campus in the second week.

The 50-meter-long ship provides students not only with comfortable living conditions, but also with endless opportunities for recreation - the daily schedule includes hours for swimming, attending additional classes with diving instructors, lectures by marine biologists and much more. The curriculum consists of fascinating theoretical lessons on the rules of behavior and survival, tying knots and using navigational charts. In the second week, students will participate in sports on the campus of the institution with accommodation in a comfortable residence in the "full board" format.

The academic year at SEK Dublin runs from September to mid-June and includes several semesters.
