Every year, students and staff of SSTU participate in more than 100 scientific and technical conferences, about 20 doctoral and over 130 candidate's dissertations are defended by the university staff, SSTU scientists publish more than 20 monographs, 1660 articles and receive about 30 patents for inventions. The university holds over 30 scientific and technical conferences, more than half of which are international.

On the basis of SSTU, journals are published that are included in the List of peer-reviewed scientific publications:

The university provides a hostel for 2128 places, of which 595 places are allocated for nonresident students. The dormitories have showers, kitchens, rooms for drying clothes, luggage storage, sports rooms, rooms for visiters, sports grounds for competitions, Spartakiads and personal use of students, assembly halls equipped with lighting equipment and audio equipment for cultural events. One of the dormitories is equipped with a children's playroom with soft modules and a dry pool. The dormitories have access to the Internet.

The annual events of the campus were a competition for the best room, the best floor and the best student council. According to the results of the city reviews-competitions of dormitories, the SSTU campus has repeatedly won prizes in various nominations.

The university has a developing space "Boiling Point", which is created for joint comfortable collective work of representatives of education, science, business, government, public organizations and professional communities.
