From 2025, the Netherlands will adopt the law "Balanced Internationalization", which will oblige universities to reduce the number of studying programs in English and make sure that at least 2/3 of courses are taught in Dutch.
In addition, universities will have to reduce the number of foreign students they accept for study. The government claims that the law will increase interest in the Dutch language around the world, but representatives of universities, on the contrary, believe that their status as educational international leaders is under threat.
