Cambridge Advanced Studies Program

The course is designed for 2-4 weeks. The intensity of English is 16 hours / week. In addition, a wide range of interesting subjects is offered.

The program allows you to combine the study of English with academic studying in various subjects. From the list the student chooses 2 disciplines. Attention of students are offered:

  • Chemistry;
  • Architecture;
  • Politics;
  • Introduction to jurisprudence;
  • International relations;
  • Philosophy;
  • History;
  • British poetry and many other subjects.

In parallel, students can attend lessons in preparation for SAT, IELTS.

  • Age of students: 16 - 18 years.
  • Requirements for admission: level of English - advanced, proficiency.
  • The result of the studying: improving the skills of English, developing skills in conducting presentations, negotiations, correction of emphasis.

Individual online studying with teachers in English is offered to foreign students. Study of subjects in English, preparation for exams or just learning English are provided. All teachers have a university education, including graduates of leading universities in the UK.

Description of Magdalene College

Magdalene College combines historic buildings with modern residences and facilities for study. The College is home to the Pepys Library, the historic personal library of Samuel Pepys.

Summer courses introduce international students to British education in small groups. Students can improve their English and communication skills while experiencing university life in Cambridge.

The College has a designated medical team and facilities for emergencies. Staff members are trained in basic first aid, and protocols cover contacting medical professionals and parents.

Things to know about

  • Samuel Pepys (1633–1703) was a Magdalene College scholar, Secretary to the Admiralty, Member of Parliament, and President of the Royal Society. He left his personal library of 3,000 volumes to the College,
  • The books remain arranged by height, as Pepys intended, in bookcases he had crafted in a naval dockyard,
  • The Pepys Building was unlikely to have been planned before 1640 and was not fully completed until after 1700. Robert Hooke was consulted in 1677. The building has a neo-classical facade in Ketton stone and is the College’s only non-brick structure,
  • The Pepys Library includes the diaries Pepys kept from 1660 to 1669, which provide an account of seventeenth-century life,
  • The Pepys Library has acquired a seventeenth-century spinet believed to have belonged to Samuel Pepys. The Haward Spinet is thought to be the earliest surviving English instrument of its type.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Accommodation is offered at the residence. Students of Magdalene College are provided with single rooms with amenities, internet access during their studies. In the residence in common use there are rest rooms, a cinema hall. Laundry services are also available.

Meals are organized in the university canteen. Full board is available, including road lunches on sightseeing days.

In addition to academic part, students are offered an extensive extracurricular programs. The quizzes, discos, film screenings, theme parties are regularly organized. The two-week course also includes 4 excursions. Three of them are for the whole day. During the excursions students of Magdalene College can visit the capital of the country with its famous sights, the University of Oxford, the old Canterbury, as well as the Vorwick Castle, the Anglesey Abbey, numerous British cathedrals, landscape and amusement parks.

Daily routine
Magdalene College offers morning, afternoon lessons. In the evening, an extracurricular program awaits the students.
