Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a public research university located in Liverpool. The educational institution is a member of the missionary group of British Universities and the European Association of Universities, and regularly ranks high in European and world rankings for a wide variety of indicators.

LJMU traces its history back to 1823, with the founding of the Liverpool School of Mechanics. The University of Liverpool title was awarded in 1992 in honor of a local businessman and philanthropist who financed the existence of the educational institution's predecessors.

LJMU guarantees all new students a place in one of the comfortable residences, regardless of which course they study and when they apply.  The university residences are houses with modern apartments.

The accommodation is offered in several options:

• Private bedrooms in shared apartments: on average, five to six single rooms with private bathrooms, but there are much larger rooms - from four to ten bedrooms per total area. Most of the living areas have private bathrooms, but some of the apartments offer a cheaper accommodation option with a shared shower. All apartments have a kitchen-living room equipped with household appliances for cooking and storing food.,

All residences offer students laundry services, usually located on the ground floor of the building, and some have gyms. LJMU accepts applications in an online format: the candidate needs to fill out an application form, attach the required documents and pay the application fee. An important part of the application form is a personal statement, which gives the student the opportunity to talk about himself: the admissions committee cares about any existing skills of the applicant, his interests and hobbies, the reason why he would like to study at this particular university. Work or volunteer experience should be mentioned in the application, as motivation, dedication, and enthusiasm are important to the institution. 

If the application is successful, the admissions committee will send an official proposal: it can be conditional (C) or unconditional (U), which determines the availability of entrance exams.

As soon as the candidate has received an offer of a place at LJMU, they should start processing their visa documents. LJMU staff will provide an official document of invitation to study, with which you can obtain a long-term student visa. Prospective students will then have to arrive at the campus and take possible entrance exams.

The last step in admission will be to check into the residence, complete the orientation event – and start classes!

Foreign candidates wishing to enroll in LJMU programs must provide a package of personal documents: passport, medical insurance, visa or residence permit in the UK. The program requirements vary depending on the level of education and the profile of study.

The general admission criteria for the bachelor's degree programs are a certificate of complete secondary education with mostly good/excellent grades, an assessment report card, and exam results. English language proficiency will be required at the IELTS 4.0 level for the preparatory course, and at the IELTS 6.0 level for the Bachelor's degree.

Future masters who enroll in the Pre-Masters preparatory course or the degree itself need a bachelor's degree in a related specialty, knowledge of English at least at the level of IELTS 5.5-6.0 or equivalent testing. Applicants to doctoral courses will need a master's degree with a total score of 3.5 out of 5, excellent knowledge of English — at a conversational level of C1.

The university offers a variety of scholarship programs based on academic merit, sports, extracurricular activities, which will cover part of the cost of tuition, accommodation or other expenses. LJMU also provides financial support for special cases, such as for students in difficult situations. International students can apply for scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Monetary awards are available to outstanding first-year students of any degree, are assigned for one academic year and can be extended if the student supports his achievements.
