Leicester High School for Girls (LHS) is a private day school for girls located in Leicester, England. Founded in 1906, it is one of the leading independent girls' schools in the country, with around 96% of A-Level students achieving A*-B grades. Leicester High School for Girls also offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, including sports, music, drama and a debating club. The school strives to provide its students with a well-rounded education and has a solid track record of sending students to leading universities.

• The LHS school curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and includes PSHE and French: it is themed, with the Cornerstones curriculum used in some subjects.
• The school offers each student from 5 to 10 different extracurricular academic activities or hobby groups, regular educational trips, lecture visits and trips to local attractions are organized.

Pupils and staff at Leicester High School for Girls are placed in one of three houses: Beaumanor, Bradgate or Charnwood. Girls remain part of their homes throughout their time at school. The houses are named after local landmarks such as Beaumanor Hall, Bradgate Park and Charnwood Forest. The house system encourages a sense of belonging and team spirit among female students of different groups. Each house has its own House Captain, who is a member of the Sixth Form Prefect Team. 

Leicester High School for Girls is a day school and does not provide boarding services.

For junior students, lunches are included in the tuition fee, for high school girls, lunches are provided for a fee (using the sQuid card). Hot meals are prepared for all girls, Sixth Form students can order an individual hot lunch in advance - from 16:00 the previous day to 9:00 in the morning of the next day. High school girls can also buy snacks, sandwiches, or salads at the Tuck store during their lunch break (both cash and sQuid cards are accepted).

LHS offers a wide range of clubs and activities to help every student find something to their liking, so girls can try something new or improve their existing skills in a hobby. Clubs are open at lunchtime or after school and are run mainly by school staff or specialist coaches.

Sports competitions and tours, trips abroad and around the UK are regularly organized.

At Leicester High School for Girls, art and music are taught to all female students separately. Dramaturgy is part of the co-curricula. All girls learn to play musical instruments in class, with about a third taking extracurricular lessons starting in the third grade. At school, girls can attend a choir or two instrumental ensembles. In addition to the usual music lessons, girls have the opportunity to learn how to play the drums, woodwinds, piano and cello. Speech and drama classes focus on preparation for the LAMBA exams. Participation in performing arts activities and bands is very popular among girls, the school even sponsors an annual Music in the Park event in support of the LOROS hospice.

Junior and Leicester High School for Girls are located in separate buildings on the same grounds.

• The junior department has its own large building with a separate playground and equipment, a pond and a garden, a library and an IT office.
• The high school has a science unit, an art studio, a modern language computer center and a nutrition study room, additional IT classrooms, a theater studio, a career center and a well-stocked library, a separate area for the Sixth Form, and a courtyard garden.

LHS has six fully equipped science laboratories where girls study biology, chemistry and physics in depth, its own netball courts, a gym and a gym, and actively uses the excellent facilities of the University of Leicester.

The school year at Leicester High School for Girls runs from September to June. The year is divided into 3 trimesters, between which vacations are organized:

International candidates need to take 5 steps on the way to admission to the school:

1. Learn more about the school. Girls with their parents can attend Leicester High School for Girls by prior arrangement. If it is not possible to visit the school in person, it is recommended to find out as much as possible about it on social networks and current advertising brochures, from a personal educational manager.
2. Registration and evaluation. Fill out the electronic registration form and pay the registration fee, provide a copy of the child's birth certificate and passport (if any).
3. Proposal. If the girl meets the entry requirements for the group she will be applying to, then a letter will be sent with an offer of a place along with the contract.
4. Visa. Leicester High School for Girls is the Sponsoring Institution of the Child Student Visa (formerly Tier 4, (Child) Student Visa). In addition to the offer letter and contract, a CAS (Confirmation of Admission to Study) will be issued. Once the visa is granted, you will need to return the signed contract to LHS along with the deposit to secure a place.
5. Introductory day. Before the start of the school year, new students are invited to the Introductory Day at the school (usually organized in June): this is an opportunity to get to know the staff, the school and each other before classes begin. If a new student is unable to attend the Introductory Day, all necessary information will be provided by email.

Today, about 350 girls from 3 to 18 years old study at Leicester High School for Girls.

LHS has a career department that coordinates an extensive programme of speaker visits and presentations each year, career guidance events + weekly career selection sessions throughout the academic year. Support is selected taking into account the stage of study of LHS students, assistance is provided in the realization of their career ambitions.

Sixth Form students are supported in choosing a university and major through trips to universities (including those of the Russell Group). Girls have access to the Unifrog resource, which helps them gather all the supporting information for university applications, including their personal statements and references.

Upon admission, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• From 3 to 9 years old: informal assessment,
• From 10 to 14 years old: exams in English, mathematics and general thinking.
• For Sixth Form (16+) candidates: a minimum of 6 GCSEs, Year 6 and Year 7 grades in subjects to be taken at the relevant level, a report on the current school and an interview.

The following scholarships are available at Leicester High School for Girls:

• Academic: Awarded for exceptional performance and potential. Fellows are expected to take a responsible approach to their academic pursuits and fully participate in the life of the school. Provide from 5 to 25% of the tuition fee.
• Musical: Available to all students in grade 6 and above, awarded annually, and provides funding for music lessons. 
• Principal's Scholarships for 7th Grade: Provide support for girls to pay fees from grades 7 to 11. These scholarships are also available for existing 6th grade students who will progress to 7th grade. Scholarships ranging from 5% to 25% of the tuition fee are awarded for outstanding results in the entrance exams in January, regardless of the family's financial capabilities.
