The Kostroma State Agricultural Academy was founded on August 13, 1949 as the Kostroma Agricultural Institute. The functions and powers of the founder of the Academy are carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.

Order in the dormitory is maintained with the help of a cleaning campaign, living rooms are cleaned by students, security is provided by the private security company "Security Technologies" and FSUE "Protection" of the Russian Guard.
The fee for living in a student dormitory ranges from 860 to 1120 rubles, depending on the type of dormitory.
