Kostroma State Agricultural Academy

The Kostroma State Agricultural Academy was founded on August 13, 1949 as the Kostroma Agricultural Institute. The functions and powers of the founder of the Academy are carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.

The university practices traditional forms of organization of the educational process:

Science and scientific and technical activities in the Kostroma State Agricultural Academy are:

• 158 scientific and pedagogical workers, including 13 doctors of sciences and 73 candidates of sciences;

• 6 research and production laboratories;
• Veterinary clinic with vivarium.

Scientific schools of the Academy:

• Development of scientific foundations for the creation of fundamentally new waste-free environmentally friendly technologies and technical means for the production, storage, processing of new biologically complete products;
• Calculation and detection of emergency modes of distribution electrical networks;
• Formation of a biotechnological agricultural complex in commodity farms of the Non-Chernozem zone of Russia;
• Veterinary Microbiology, Virology, Epizootology, Mycology with Mycotoxicology and Immunology;
• Application of aerodynamic devices for drying seeds in a dense and fluidized bed;
• Diagnostics of diseases and therapy of animals, pathology, oncology and morphology of animals;
• Private animal husbandry, technology for the production of livestock products;
• Development and testing of a set of machines for harvesting flax and preparing trusts for processing it at a flax factory, assessing the quality of trusts.

To increase the financial support of scientific research, the Academy actively participates in all competitions held at the federal level.

In 2021, the academy began publishing a scientific and practical journal - "Agrarian Bulletin of the Non-Black Earth Region".

More than 1000 students participate in research work every year. The Academy actively participates in scientific youth projects operating at the intra-university, regional, all-Russian, international levels.

The total number of employees of the Academy is 378 people, of which the teaching staff is 158 people, including:

• 13 doctors of sciences, professors;
• 73 candidates of sciences, associate professors.

The Academy employs 5 candidates of sciences under the age of 35.

The Academy uses 6 dormitories:

• 4 dormitories with corridor placement of rooms;
• 2 block-type dormitories. 

The distance from the educational buildings to the dormitories is only about 150 m. Order in the dormitory is maintained with the help of a cleaning campaign, living rooms are cleaned by students, security is provided by the private security company "Security Technologies" and FSUE "Protection" of the Russian Guard.

The fee for living in a student dormitory ranges from 860 to 1120 rubles, depending on the type of dormitory.

To organize meals for students, the academy has:

• dining room for 70 seats;
• stationary buffets for 12 seats in three educational buildings.

Medical care for students is provided in the district polyclinic of the village of Karavaevo, the central district hospital of the Kostroma municipal district, polyclinics and hospitals in the city of Kostroma.

The academic year begins on September 1 and is divided into two semesters, each ending with a test and examination session in accordance with the curriculum of the corresponding educational program.

Additional expenses of students may include fees for accommodation in dormitories (for nonresidents), meals, leisure and other expenses.

Graduates are employed at enterprises and organizations of the Kostroma region, as well as in the Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Leningrad, Moscow, Vologda, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh, Rostov, Leningrad and other regions.
