The Institute of Social Sciences was founded in 1995 and was conceived as an innovative project, which was developed by a group of employees of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Today we can safely say that the ISN has not only become a successful project, but also continues to develop. Every year the university produces highly qualified specialists with a good level of competitiveness. Education at the institute is built on the foundations and traditions of classical Russian education.
Educational process
The educational process at the Institute of Social Sciences is carefully planned and takes into account the peculiarities of the harmonious development of students. The organization of the educational process of the university is regulated by the working curriculum, the annual calendar schedule of the educational process and the schedules of classes.

On the basis of the Institute of Social Sciences there is a Center for Additional Education and 7 departments:
- general humanitarian, mathematical and natural science disciplines;
- state and legal disciplines;
- civil law disciplines;

Scientific achievements
The scientific activity of the ISN is aimed at solving the problems of socio-economic development of Russia.
Students and teachers of the Institute annually take an active part in research conferences and scientific exhibitions.
Many works of students are published in scientific periodicals, including foreign publications indexed by the MBNC Web of Science and Scopus.

On the basis of the institute for more comfortable learning, the Student Council was created, which solves the main issues and problems of organizing the harmonious development of students.
The Institute has created its own patriotic club "Patriot", which educates students in a civil and patriotic position.
In 2016, INS signed an international cooperation agreement with the European Higher School of Economics and Management Plovdiv (Bulgaria).
Accommodation, meals, prices
For nonresident students, the administration of the institute signed an agreement with the hostel of the Student Campus "Lefortovo". Residential buildings are located 20 minutes walk from the educational center. Registration of accommodation in the hostel is carried out on the basis of the order of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "NRU MPEI" on the provision of a place. After providing a place, the future student must contact the Passport Department of the campus to conclude a lease agreement for residential premises.
Dormitory buildings are divided into corridor dormitories (with amenities on the floor) and block type (bathroom and toilet per block). On each floor of the residential building there are 1 or 2 kitchens equipped with electric stoves. Forcomfortable accommodation of students in the dormitories there are rooms for self-study, rest rooms, ironing rooms, inexpensive laundries, cafes and much more.
Activities Institute of Social Sciences, ISN
The administration of the institute highlights the special role of the social sphere in the lives of students. Student life at the institute is diverse: creative teams, sports sections have been created, which function on the basis of the sports complex, there is a student council and a council of young scientists.
Every year there are events: faculty days, freshman's day, campus day and other thematic evenings. The organizers of most of the holidays are the students of the university themselves.
For each group of the first year, from the beginning of the academic year, curators of senior students and teachers are appointed: with their participation, field dedications to students are held, academic performance and attendance are monitored.
Facilities and equipment at Institute of Social Sciences, ISN
- The Institute has an educational building, located a 15-minute walk from the kurskaya metro station and the Kursky railway station. The building is equipped with a ramp.
- Each classroom is equipped with computers for lectures, presentations and scientific films.
- The total number of computers with Internet access, to which students have access, is 40 pieces. All computers have licensed software installed.
- In the building of the educational building there are three rooms of the sports and health club: small and large sports halls, a gym.
- To study additional material in the educational building of the ISN there is a library, in addition, students are given access to electronic information resources.
- Across the street from the academic building there is a canteen where students can have a snack during the break.
- In the educational building there is a medical office in case of first aid.
Admission dates and extra charges
At the Institute of Social Sciences, the educational process is carried out according to the semester system. At the end of the semester, a session is held.
In addition to tuition fees, prospective students and their parents need to calculate the amount of money for additional expenses. These expenses include: accommodation in a dormitory, if the student is from another city, transportation costs, meals, leisure and other expenses. In total, a student can spend at least 15,000 rubles per month.
Enrolment process
According to the established rules of the institute, applicants must submit documents for admission to the university by the end of August to the admission committee. The list of established documents is listed on the official website of the Institute and includes:
- Application for admission to the INS;
- Certificate of secondary general education or diploma of vocational education (original or copy);
- Original or photocopy of identity and citizenship documents;
- 2-4 photos with a size of 3×4 (if you pass internal entrance exams and when enrolling);
- Original or photocopy of documents confirming the presence of individual achievements;
- Medical certificate in the prescribed form (only for full-time students and is provided after enrollment);
- Documents confirming the right to benefits;
- SNILS;
- Registration certificate or military ID (for conscripts);
- Materials of entrance tests (results of the Unified State Exam or internal written testing).

Enrolment statistics
To date, about 56 people study at the INS undergraduate program, of which 17 people are citizens of foreign countries.
The most popular areas are "Economics" and "Jurisprudence".
Perspectives
During the period, students undergo practical education in the largest organizations and research structures, the Public Chamber, Ministries and departments. Many students who have proven themselves during the period of study in large organizations immediately get a job where the practice took place.
The Institute cooperates with the Office of the State Employment Service of the Moscow Region, the Employment Center of Moscow, the Department for Youth Affairs of the Moscow Region and educational institutions of the Moscow Region. Employees of the Center help graduates to find work in state and municipal bodies.
Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol
The following requirements are put forward for applicants:
- Completed secondary general education (11 grades), secondary vocational or higher education;
- Successful completion of entrance examinations or testing (including for foreign citizens);
- Results of the Unified State Exam. Grades obtained as a result of passing the Exam are counted if they were received no earlier than 4 years before the date of completion of the receipt of documents.
The minimum number of points on the unified state exam:
- Russian language – 40 points;
- Mathematics – 39 points;
- History – 35 points;
- Foreign language – 30 points;
- Social Studies – 45 points;
- Informatics and ICT – 44 points.
Entrance tests conducted by the Institute independently are held in writing and in Russian language.
