Schools in Canada have different IELTS requirements for applicants. It depends on the program the student is applying for.
IELTS 6.5 is required for admission to the first year of undergraduate studies at universities and colleges in Canada. The exception will be medical programs - IELTS 7.0. For 2-3-year D i ploma programs, universities require IELTS 6.0. If you plan to apply for a master's degree, you will need to provide from IELTS 7.0.
For students whose level of English turned out to be insufficient, there are special programs University Pathway or English for Academic Pupose. The duration of the courses will depend on the initial level of the English language - usually it is from 3 to 9 months. Also, some universities have Foundation programs that make more loyal requirements for incoming foreign students - IELTS from 5.5
