The Bachillerato level is not compulsory in Spain. It corresponds to 10-11 classes of Russian schools with a deepening into the specialty. At King's College Alicante, after three years of preparation for bachilerato, young people take the Selectividad exam. This final exam answers a single state exam in Russia.

The first year of study meets the level of studying in the vocational school. In the second year of Spanish Bachillerato you can get basic professional knowledge, and after the 3rd course become an applicant with a humanitarian or exact specialization. Points at the final exams are provided to the university and affect the chances of enrolling in the competition.

The entire school structure is divided into streams and academic directions. There are four types of sciences available:

  • Art;
  • Modern technological processes;
  • Natural;
  • Humanitarian (+ social).

The direction of "art" involves studying design, dance, acting and music.

It is possible to apply for bacillaryto from the age of 16 (full compulsory education), but the college provides a flexible approach and can accept the student in terms of knowledge. The level of English or Spanish is taken into account. King's College Alicante provides full board and classes in creative groups.

The success of Spanish Bachillerato is determined by the final scores. The student's lagging provides for two solutions: summer individual lessons with professional curators and teachers or the same course for the second time. The choice depends on the number of unsatisfactory grades and abilities of the teenager.

Only those who have received a sufficient number of positive grades on the final exam can count on título de Bachiller. This official diploma confirms the high quality of the specializations received and is suitable for providing to the university.

Early Years

  • Student age — 3–5 years,
  • Duration of study — 2 years.

During this period, the basic skills of learning and everyday life are established; children develop self-discipline, responsibility, and respect for others. Classrooms are decorated with children's work and themed materials, creating a cozy language environment that gently supports the first steps of young learners in reading and writing.

Learning takes place in a creative and playful atmosphere and follows the early development goals of the English Early Years course. Key areas include:

  • communication and language,
  • early literacy through speech, phonics, stories, and rhymes,
  • mathematics — through exercises and basic counting.

Young children explore the world around them, develop social and emotional skills, learn to work in groups, develop movement and coordination, and express themselves through creative activities.

Key Stage 1

  • Student age — 5–7 years,
  • Duration of study — 2 years.

Learning follows the British primary programme and gives children a balanced set of subjects: from English and mathematics to the basics of health, religious studies, and ICT. Special attention is given to English and literacy: young learners develop reading comprehension, fluency, and enthusiasm, and gradually build writing skills in a supportive language environment.

Mathematics and natural sciences are connected to real life and other subjects, so that pupils better understand how knowledge is applied in practice.

Spanish is introduced from the first year in accordance with the requirements of the Spanish Ministry of Education and is studied through practical tasks. From the second year, Valencian is added.

  • Children can enroll in preschool and early school groups (ages 2–6) even without any knowledge of the language.
  • For children aged 3–4, a school familiarization visit together with parents is provided.
  • From age 7, a good level of English is required.

For admission to the first grade, an assessment is conducted by the deputy head of the primary school; it is preferable that the child has already been studying in an English-language environment and is able to read and write in English.

When transitioning to primary and secondary school, students take entrance tests in English, mathematics, and non-verbal reasoning; previous grades, behavior, and interview results are also taken into account.

For admission to Year 11, it is important that students have already completed the first year of (I)GCSE. Entrance exams are generally not required if the English level is confirmed, but academic performance plays a key role. For Year 12, a mandatory interview is held and previous academic results are taken into account: for example, admission to A-level requires at least five (I)GCSE subjects with a grade of C or above, as well as good grades in the chosen subjects.

My father has been working in Spain for several years. But recently he said on the phone to my mother that he misses me very much and wants to take us to his place. Now we live in Alicante.

I go to a local private school called King's College. Teachers are very smart and good, and from the subjects I especially liked the mathematics. At school there is a good sports hall, and I even fell in love with physical education. And my dad says that I study in such a school, after which it is easy to enter the university. I really like my school, although I miss my old friends.
