Charles Sturt University opens a branch in Sri Lanka

The third Australian higher education institution, Charles Sturt University, plans to open an international campus in the capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo. This decision is due to the high demand for quality education among local students. Every year, about 160,000 local applicants seek admission to universities in their country, but due to the limited number of places, many remain without higher education. To solve the problem of the lack of educational quotas, the Sri Lankan authorities are encouraging the development of the private sector, which already brings in more than a billion dollars annually.

Initially, the new foreign branch will offer students programs in the areas of business and preschool education, in the future it is planned to expand the list of specialties through courses in ICT technologies, psychology, engineering and healthcare.

This is not the first such experience: earlier branches were opened by 2 other Australian universities - Edith Cowan University and Curtin University, and the number of students from Sri Lanka studying remotely at Australian universities has reached 3000+ people.
