The school system in Monaco: structure and features

The educational system in Monaco is very similar to the French one - the same structure is adopted here and the same certificates are awarded. The compulsory schooling period is 11 classes (from 6 to 16 years). From 3 to 6 years old, children attend nurseries and special child care centers where they undergo developmental classes, work with psychologists and educators, and study the world around them. Then they go to primary school. Children receive a large amount of knowledge, get acquainted with the basic sciences, learn languages, develop creatively and physically.

Then the students proceed to the middle stage, that consists of sequential preparation - first at the College for 4 years, and then at the Lycee for 3 years, and only the first year of the lyceum is mandatory, as it ends compulsory education period. Students choose their profile and specialty, and receive diplomas in such areas as accounting, secretarial services, hotel business and much more.
