What advice do you have for potential applicants before applying to US universities?

Choose a university that really suits you - do not try to "adjust" yourself to a prestigious or ranked university. If you are not sure of your capabilities, do not dwell on the first top 10: believe me, many opportunities of less prestigious universities will be able to give you what you need to develop and become a specialist.

Educational process

The university has several dozen specialized departments, each of which provides additional assistance to students: students can use consulting services, request additional specialized classes, help in finding an internship and a place for employment, register for participation in an exchange program.

Faculties and colleges

There are six specialized colleges:

  1. Advanced and international education,
  2. Pedagogy
  3. Arts, Humanities,
  4. Natural and Behavioral Sciences,
  5. Business Administration, Public Policy,
  6. Healthcare, social services, nursing.

Accommodation, meals, prices

University housing consists of 22 two—storey apartment buildings, one four-storey residence and three administrative buildings where staff live. The residential buildings are surrounded by green areas for walking and outdoor recreation, and have easy access to CSUDH academic buildings and sports facilities.

Students are accommodated in different types of rooms — rooms and apartments are prepared in the houses.:

  • 72 two-room apartments, each designed for four residents,
  • 60 three-room apartments, each prepared for six students,
  • 32 one-room apartments, each with two students,
  • 159 rooms with the opportunity of double, triple and quadruple rooms,
  • 17 apartments and four separate rooms, equipped for students with disabilities.

All living areas are fully furnished, with access to private or shared bathrooms, kitchens, relaxation and self-study areas.

The university has six dining halls and several cafeterias that accept meal plans, which consists of a certain number of meals per week, providing you with the opportunity to choose dishes from an extensive menu and receive discounts on drinks, snacks, pastries. The meal plan also includes additional points that can be saved and spent in university cafeterias.

Activities California State University Dominguez Hills

Life at CSU Dominguez Hills is not limited to studying - sports competitions, performances and exhibitions, festivals, lectures and master classes with invited professionals are organized and accepted on campus all year round.

Dramatic art is important here: the local branch of the Theater and Ballet sets up to 5 productions (theatrical / choreographic) each academic year, and students play all the roles in them - both on stage and outside (as writers, directors, artists on light or sound, costume designers). Premieres take place in the big local theater (designed for 485 people) or in a more intimate setting of the Edison Studio Theater (up to 70 spectators).

The University Art Gallery exhibition hall (one of the most developed in the region as a whole!) Is very popular with students and campus visitors: there are up to 10 exhibitions and performances a year, students of the Faculty of Art and Design are exhibiting.

Each year, the university hosts a large, bright Pow-Wow festival dedicated to the history of America and its indigenous people. This is an exciting opportunity to literally go back in time: try traditional dishes, many recipes of which have already been forgotten, master the ancient craft of Indians or their painting, listen to national music and learn to dance Indian dances, to get acquainted with their religious world. No less popular is the regular festival Unity Fest: its task is to rally the multinational, vibrant, multicultural community of students, teach them unity and tolerance, show the diversity of the modern world, cultures, nations and languages. Often organized trips around the state (and sometimes beyond) and visiting sights off-campus.
