There is a lighthouse in America's northernmost state. This is an ordinary engineering and hydrographic structure, the only difference between which from comrades and colleagues in the naval service is an unusual feature: you can spend the night in it, as in a simple hotel. It's not cheap, but there are some great rooms, undosed unity and magnificent views of the tiny island of Rockwell.

The size of this topographic object does not exceed 40 acres, which is equivalent to one acre of land. This is private property, and in a sense the island is not inhabited - it does not have a permanent population.
The lighthouse here arose recently, it can hardly be called an example of historical buildings. In 1983, a local resident, a practicing veterinarian Bowder Burgis, decided to create it purely out of a love of art. A year and a half later, the work was over. The new structure quickly received official registration as a real working lighthouse. It is known by two names - "Rockwell Lighthouse" (as it is designated on boat and topographic maps) and "Sitka Lighthouse" (this name is very popular in guidebooks for tourists and travelers). From the second name it is not difficult to understand that geographically this object is close to the ancient capital of Alaska.
This city was founded in 1799 by a polar explorer from Russia Alexander Baranov. By the way, the first name is Novo-Arkhangelsk, and the island itself bears the name of the founder. In general, there are many Russian-language names on the map of Alaska. Until the sale of the US peninsula in 1867, there were factories of the Russian-American Company and military bases of the squadron of the Russian fleet in the Pacific.
Unfortunately, the foreign policy situation of that time did not allow to maintain control over Alaska, and the colony had to be sold to America. Therefore, now the Cathedral of Michael the Archangel, built by the colonists, is listed in the register of American historical places and the list of monuments of local history and architecture. He was there a couple of years before a major fire, almost completely destroyed this structure. The utensils and elements of the decoration were saved, and the regional authorities treated the lost object of cultural heritage with all seriousness, immediately taking care of the restoration work. The restoration was completed by 1976, at the same time the church was re-consecrated. Now the temple has almost the same appearance as before the fire.
However, let's return to the lighthouse, to which our material is dedicated.
This building acquired its modern appearance in 2018, when the original owner and author of the project decided to get rid of the dubious asset. The new owners, having figured, took up the promotion. A few successful promotions – and the demand soared. Currently, the lease of the lighthouse will cost 50-70 thousand in ruble equivalent. You can pay rent on a special site, but you should take care of the issue in advance - so as not to be trapped.
Inside there is a pair of full bedrooms, a living room, a bathroom, a walking area and a transparent "glass" that provides a 360-degree view. The addition is the hot tub Jacuzzi in the open air - it appeared here after a full-scale reconstruction.
The lighthouse has repeatedly become the hero of television and movies, journalistic reports and guides to Alaska: whatever one may say, the situation is inspiring, and to visit such a place promises to be interesting and unforgettable.
It offers a motor - it allows you to go out into the bay and make a photoset in the open ocean, to approach a flock of humpback whales. There are other representatives of the local fauna who are ready to communicate with a person.
Some guests are interested in the mechanism of functioning of the lighthouse and wonder whether they have to control the inclusion of the lantern. In fact, of course, no - this is a modern structure, the light at night is turned on by an automatic. Although, perhaps, it would be necessary to include such an opportunity for visitors - for a fee, of course. What do you think?
