Nursery

  • Age of students — from 0 to 3 years old,
  • The studying period is three years.

As an international kindergarten, Yago School Nursery uses a project-based learning method with an interdisciplinary theme each semester. This approach gives children the opportunity to independently monitor the progress of their studies, explore and compare various things and situations through structured and planned activities. Education in the youngest grades takes place according to methodological approaches known all over the world: Montessori, Waldorf Steiner, STEAM, Reggio Emilia and others.

The curriculum is divided into two groups of essential skills that younger students should acquire.

  • Strengthening feelings and emotions, expanding knowledge about your body and self-care, acquiring the right habits and adapting to teamwork, developing in play and movement,
  • Academic emphasis on psychomotor, emotional, social, cognitive development, language learning and self-reliance.

The educational area for kids consists of classrooms adapted for different age groups, equipped with the necessary didactic materials for each stage: interactive whiteboards, library, dining room, playgrounds and much more. All classrooms are connected by wide glass windows and are well ventilated. The entire territory is absolutely safe and diverse, which contributes to the comfortable and effective development of children.

Infant (kindergarten): 3-5 years old

The junior stage of education, kindergarten is aimed at the primary development of abilities in a stimulating creative environment, under the "guidance" of innovative methods that ensure the active involvement of children. Infant provides a safe and secure space that promotes the integration of toddlers into a social context and develops independence.

Already at this age, children take the first steps in the international baccalaureate program, preparing for the first stage — the Primary Years Program (PYP). Learning here is both playful and meaningful, very active, committed to the ideas of globalization. There is constant gentle monitoring and unobtrusive monitoring of children's development in order to quickly adjust the lesson plan if necessary.

A smooth exploration of the digital environment, physical and social development begins. 70% of the time, students speak English, which ensures rapid linguistic development at almost the native speaker level. From this stage, children can start learning Chinese (Mandarin) and Spanish. From the age of 5, iPads appear in the learning process to integrate into the ICT field: this will help in the future to master such complex disciplines as programming, robotics, office management and 3D design. Bee Bots and Lego sets are also used in the training to help develop fine motor skills. The study of the phenomena that lead students to the STEAM course begins smoothly, interdisciplinary learning, art and music are introduced.

Self-expression, imagination and creativity are actively encouraged: classes with artists, musical games, rhythmic exercises and outdoor games are regularly held. A lot of time is also devoted to physical development: psychomotor and bodily development (an active class is allocated for this), gymnastics, sports games with balls.

Primary (primary grades): 6-12 years old

The Primary stage is already a full-fledged start of the full cycle of secondary education according to the International Baccalaureate (IB) model, the Primary Years Programme (PYP) stage. The curriculum becomes wider, homework appears.

The main objectives of this period are:

  • To cultivate freedom and breadth of thinking, tolerance, diligence and diligence,
  • To ensure diverse, harmonious development: personal, social, physical, technological, religious, intellectual,
  • Teach children to be educated, to respect each other,
  • To instill important values: solidarity, ecological thinking, ethics, civic responsibility, sparkle,
  • Actively develop communication skills,
  • To instill a love for a healthy lifestyle, for active sports and creative development,
  • To develop the individual potential and curiosity of each child.

The course is flexible, able to adapt to individual characteristics and needs. PYP includes the start of training in all basic areas and sciences:

  • Mathematics
  • Art
  • ICT
  • PSHEE,
  • Science
  • Social Sciences.

The language principle of this stage is bilingualism: English is chosen as the basis (you can start preparing for the Cambridge exams), in addition, children learn Chinese (basic preparation for the YCT and HSK exams) and Spanish.

Each student works with a personal iPad: science and technology enter the lives of schoolchildren more strongly, leading them to study the subjects of the STEAM and ICT courses. Interactive whiteboards and Apple TV, smart labs, 3D printers, Lego sets and Bee Bots are actively used in classrooms. All this fits into The YProject's innovative school concept for the development of digital competence.

Young students study music (vocals, piano, music theory), participate in concerts and performances throughout the year. Children are very fond of art classes in the art room: ceramics and plaster, a variety of paints and other materials and techniques. Time is also given to sports (at least 3 hours a week + active, outdoor games), especially team sports.

Yago School Sevilla is an international school offering programs for children from 0 to 18 years old. It is located in a residential area of a suburb of Seville, Spain.

The institution, founded in 2010, is accredited by many educational associations, including the Spanish Ministry of Education, IBO, and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges of the United States (WASC). Thanks to the assessments and certifications of these companies, Spanish and International Diploma programs are taught at the language school in Spain.: This means that Yago School Sevilla students have the opportunity to gain competitive knowledge and an advantage in admission to leading universities around the world. Rigorous curricula for each class guarantee excellent preparation for both higher education and adulthood.

Yago School Sevilla provides a holistic education through which students become lifelong learners and responsible citizens. Here, students are helped to discover their talents and fully develop their human, intellectual and emotional potential, and develop the creative, critical and technical competencies necessary to respond to current and future challenges. Every student learns programming, robotics, and computer science from an early age using iPads, MacBooks, 3D printers, and Lego Education Innovation Studio Robotix, which makes the institution truly modern and technologically advanced.

Another feature of Yago School Sevilla is multilingualism: English is the language of instruction, Spanish is also used in some classes, and Chinese is considered the main foreign language required for additional study.

Educational process

Yago School has adopted a system of houses similar to the best British boarding schools:

  • Sussex,
  • Larch Hill,
  • Stradbroock.

The names of the Houses repeat the names of the old educational institutions of England and Ireland. Belonging to the House enhances the sense of elbow, mutual respect and support between children, fosters a sense of belonging to a particular social group. Throughout the year, various competitions are held between the Houses, which bring points to the winners (individual or team), and at the end of the year the winner is determined. It is important that individual points are obtained publicly, with general congratulations and applause from other children, which serves as a reinforcement of personal motivation, a pleasant bonus, and provides a sense of recognition. Each house has a captain and a vice-captain: they are responsible for events, organize them, help other children of the House, serve as mentors for younger students, mediate with school leaders.

The school has adopted uniforms for boys and girls: separate sets must be purchased for the warm and cold seasons, for sports, for special events.

Each student, starting from high school, is allocated Macbool Air for classes and independent work.

Things to know about

The history of Yago School began in 1979 in Dublin - and immediately followed a non-standard and original path: translating the Spanish national school curriculum into an English-speaking environment in order to ensure strong bilingualism, the interpenetration of two cultures.

In the 90s, it was difficult for schools to stay afloat, but development, albeit slowly, went forward. Some of the professionals and even former students of those years now form the backbone of the teaching and management staff of the modern Yago School in Seville.
