The elite private boarding school Wycombe Abbey School was founded in the suburbs an hour's drive from London in 1896. Since 1989 the school has been cooperating with the international educational network Our World English School and holds on its territory summer language English courses for children and adolescents from various levels of the world.
In almost 25 years of Our World English School, several thousand students from more than 50 countries have successfully completed their English language study programs in Britain. The company organizes summer camps only on the basis of leading and prestigious educational institutions, including Wycombe Abbey School.
As part of the summer program, students at Wycombe Abbey School Our World English Schools can choose either a standard language course or a thematic one, that is, where language learning is combined with another activity - English + Tennis or English + Dance and Theater.
This English course includes 15 language classes (45 minutes each) per week, as well as 6 hours of additional or creative format (computer literacy, theater, music, dance and other cultural activities) + 6 hours of physical activity on a weekly basis. This program is suitable for all categories of students in the school from 8 to 17 years.
An intensive English language program at the Wycombe Abbey School includes 30 language lessons per week (four classes per 1.5 hours per day). Within the framework of the course, children from 12 to 17 years will study communities of discipline (foreign language, mathematics, natural sciences), as well as STEM subjects - scientific disciplines, engineering, technology and not only.
Within the program, students will be able to develop critical thinking, problem solving skills and design skills. Students can get on the program only with a confident knowledge of English - not lower than Upper Intermediate.
English Plus Theater and Dance
This program of learning English implies language lessons combined with art forms - dance, music or theatrical skill. On the course, students each week devote 15 lessons of English, and another 12 hours - singing, dancing, acting, and so on.
The program can be received by children even with an initial level of English at the age from 8 to 14 years. In order that teachers can equally pay attention to each student, classes are held in groups of up to 15 people.
Under this program, for boys aged 8 to 17, boys and girls who study at a summer school will combine English lessons (15 hours a week) with tennis lessons (15 hours). Sports will be conducted under the guidance of experienced coaches, so here children will certainly be able to learn something new.
In addition, the school administration organizes weekly excursions for its students, as well as an evening entertainment program - quizzes, discos and so on.
During the training period, students are offered accommodation in dormitories on the school grounds, where the children are accommodated in rooms for 1, 2 or 4 people (boys separate from the girls). Shower rooms and toilets are located on the floors of the residence, and in the rooms each of the guests has everything necessary for comfortable accommodation: a bed, a personal nightstand and a study table, a common wardrobe. The residence has an international, cheerful atmosphere - usually for students to live in such a way that in one room were representatives of different nationalities of the same age.
Meals are organized on a full board, that is, students of the summer language camp receive three meals a day in the cafeteria on the campus of the school. Men try to make the menu balanced and useful, including in the diet of a growing organism a lot of vegetables and fruits. There is also a vegetarian menu available for students in the local dining room, and during the retreats each student receives a packed lunch.
