Why can't you swim in the cleanest lake on Earth?

Why can't you swim in the cleanest lake on Earth?

Our Earth is not deprived of miracles - every continent, region or even a small forest, hill or river can boast of masterpieces not made by hands, you just need to be able to look at the right angle. But it is human nature to look not for the small, but for the great – and to strive to join the truly unique things and phenomena.

And those, the latter, can only suffer from close attention and other negative factors of anthropogenic influence. After all, human nature is peculiar not only to look at the miracle, but also to touch it in order to explore the physical and non-material component in an empirical way. And the close contacts of the third species with nature usually bring the last destruction and ruin.

Blue Lake

Fortunately, there are still places untouchable for humans on the planet. It is difficult to say to whom we owe this more – civil responsibility and respect for the sense of beauty or severity of acts of legal regulation.

This is New Zealand's Blue Lake. A beautiful name best characterizes its aesthetic properties. It is located in the Nelson National Park at the northern tip of South Island. The park with its breathtaking views and virgin forests is very popular with tourist brethren - they are attracted by waterfalls among high rocks and relict trees. However, all this serves only as a frame for the main diamond.

Its most important quality is the transparency of crystal. Its waters officially hold the title of the purest on earth. The waters are filled with the nearby Lake Konstanz - they cross a number of mountainous ridges, which contributes to a deep cleaning of suspensions and impurities, dirt and organic particles.

At the output, the liquid is so transparent that at a distance it can be confused with atmospheric air at noon. Opticians of the British Royal Institute of Physics conducted appropriate measurements and found out that the transparency index is approaching the seventy-meter mark, which is comparable to that for distilled water - it has a transparency mark of 80 meters. Thanks to this quality, the water receives a delicate blue hue, which made the lake famous on a planetary scale.

Protection of crystal clear

To save this jewel, you have to take serious measures. Bathing in its waters is strictly forbidden - the authorities of the country suggest that this will contribute to pollution. Even walks through the relic forest at the sources of the streams feeding the reservoir are completely blocked - there has not been a human foot for more than fifty years.

There is still no total ban on visiting, but every year quotas for visits of tourist groups are introduced. For example, in 2020, a total of a thousand people were allowed, including guides and Sherpas.

The surrounding woodlands and mountain spurs are equipped with sensors that respond to a moving person, and video cameras with night vision units - the offender faces a meeting with huntsmen, a colossal fine and immediate expulsion from the New Zealand state, or - if we are talking about a citizen of the country - a prison term. It is forbidden even to touch the surface of the water of the Blue Lake - of course, not because of danger or toxicity, but tokmo for the purpose of nature conservation and protection of water resources.

I must say that the swim would be a very unpleasant thing - the water temperature does not exceed eight degrees Celsius and as you dive drops to two or three.

Inter alia

In the Nurimanovsky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan near the village of Sarva there is a very similar in color and transparency of water cold lake - even in the hottest summer days, when over the mirror of the waters there is a dense fog from evaporated moisture, the water temperature in it does not exceed five degrees.

Unfortunately, there is no question of state protection of this unique object. But while on the shores clean - the key to the low fame and complete absence of advertising and promotion.
