Volgograd State Agrarian University (VolGAU) is the largest higher institution of the agro-industrial region, the leading center of the agrarian sphere in the Lower Volga region. In 1994, the Stalingrad Agricultural Institute with four faculties was opened in Uryupinsk. In the 60s, the campus was moved to Volgograd, at the same time a military department was opened. In 2011, the institution received its current name.
