The Academy was founded in 1960 in Volgograd on the basis of the Stalingrad State Institute of Physical Culture.

The educational process takes place on the basis of four educational and scientific buildings with classrooms for theoretical classes. All classrooms have modern material and technical equipment: projectors, screens and computers. The Academy provides for education:

The educational process in the year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each, an examination session is held, after which students are given a vacation (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).

For admission to the academy, you must provide:

For admission to undergraduate educational programs, you must:

- Points received for the exam are not lower than:
- Russian language — 40;
- Social Studies — 45;
- Biology — 39.
- Passing the entrance test in physical education, which is conducted independently by the academy.
For admission to master's programs, you must:
- Completed higher education;
- Successful completion of the entrance examinations of the university with scores not lower than those established independently by the academy.
For admission to postgraduate programs, you must:
- Completed higher education;
- Successful completion of entrance examinations, with a score of at least 40:
