TOP-9 places that tourists avoid visiting

TOP-9 places that tourists avoid visiting

Usually ratings are dedicated to the countries and destinations that are the most popular among tourists from other countries. France , Spain, USA, China, Italy, Mexico, UK, Turkey, Germany and Thailand are the TOP-10 most popular tourist destinations in the world. From 30 to 80 thousand tourists visit these countries annually.

We propose to compile a rating of countries where tourists travel several times less, and at the same time to understand the reasons for tourist unpopularity.

Moldavia

Excellent vineyards, quiet, picturesque countryside and low prices are the distinguishing features of small Moldova, which is favorably located in eastern Europe, between Ukraine and Romania. Since the country has not yet been trampled by tourists, it retains its identity and untouched natural beauty, and the locals are welcoming and hospitable.

The national cuisine consists of Moldovan and Ukrainian dishes; it will surprise you with its variety and give you new gastronomic impressions.

Moldova is home to medieval cities, monasteries and the world's largest wine cellars. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate cycling, hot air ballooning and hang gliding.

And all of this is more than affordable, especially when compared to the rest of Europe!

Eritrea

Eritrea is located on the shores of the Red Sea - the state of East Africa. The country is closed and with many restrictions for tourists, up to special travel permits, so its presence in the rating is understandable. During the long war, most of the historical monuments were destroyed, so Eritrea is not about sights, it's about nature.

Safari parks where you can see wild animals in their natural habitat, diving, which will allow you to get acquainted with the inhabitants of the Red Sea, view coral reefs, as well as a beach holiday - these are the few tourist checkpoints. It is unlikely that you will be able to enjoy the local cuisine - Eritrea has been a colony of Italy for a long time, so pizza and coffee are ubiquitous. Bean porridge - ful is popular among local dishes.

New Caledonia

This is a former French colony, most of the tourists here are still French. Caledonia consists of several islands in the Pacific Ocean, it is not easy to get here, the most convenient way is by cruise. If by plane, then it is better to fly from Australia or New Zealand - from Russia and other countries the journey will take at least 30 hours with a bunch of transfers.

Given the inaccessibility of the country, ticket prices cannot be called low, housing is also not cheap. There is no public transport, you will need a car for rent to get around the island. Sometimes you can count on the courtesy of the locals, who drive each other and tourists (unless you are not French, who are not liked here).

They go to Caledonia for paradise nature, azure beaches, to see a picturesque reef and admire the islands. There are many national parks here, the incredible landscapes of which are mesmerizing.

San Marino

This dwarf state, surrounded on all sides by Italy, is located on the slope of Monte Titano. Unique medieval architecture has been preserved here in the form of an ancient city with towers and a surviving fortress wall. You can visit the city hall and catch the changing of the guard ceremony, the Basilica of the Saint, where the relics of the founder of San Marino are kept, and several museums.

From gastronomic pleasures you will find lasagna, spaghetti bolognese, pizza, a variety of cheeses.

Getting there is as easy as shelling pears - by car or public transport from Italy.

Dominica

It is a small island nation in the Caribbean. The way to Dominica is not a short one, the flight with transfers will take about a day. Be prepared that Princess Juliana Airport is one of the most dangerous airports in the world, landing here is very difficult.

Those who come to Dominica are waiting for incredible beauty of nature - it seems that the best is collected here: beaches, including those with black volcanic sand, picturesque bays, forests with rich flora and fauna, plantations of coffee, mango and bananas, a boiling lake, numerous waterfalls and even a champagne beach where the water in the sea seems to be carbonated. Fans of sea travel will meet with whales that live here as local residents. And on the island all year round, summer is a heavenly place!

Sierra Leone

This Western European state in Africa has a huge potential for tourism development. At the same time, Sierra Leone is the poorest republic in Africa, where the level of crime and corruption is high, and rallies and coups d'état are commonplace.

Beaches, sea fishing, rainforests and exotic wildlife are not a complete list of what attracts tourists here who ventured to visit Sierra Leone.   From the time of the British colonization, ancient streets and a few buildings have survived in the republic, which look unusual in these parts.

An interesting fact is that in the 17th century on the territory of Sierra Leone the first production of Shakespeare's "Hamlet" took place. A British company heading to India dropped anchor in these places. In order not to get bored and to have a good time, the captain of one of the ships invited his crew to stage a play.

Sao Tome and Principe

Another African island state is the former Portuguese colony. By the way, until the 15th century the islands were uninhabited, slaves were brought here by the Portuguese to grow cane and supply sugar to Europe. Since then, a fairly dense Portuguese building has been preserved, of course, very shabby, because there is no money to take care of the buildings.

As in other similar places, the islands have abundant nature, white beaches and wild animals.

Solomon islands

The state, located in the Pacific Ocean, has almost a thousand islands. The Solomon Islands were able to preserve their historical appearance, while drawing a lot from modern culture, resulting in a unique synthesis of eras. Most of the country is occupied by villages with traditional types of houses - wooden huts with a roof of palm branches, and in large settlements you can find houses of the European type.

As a pastime, tourists prefer diving to see not only the marine nature, but also sunken submarines, ships and even planes from the Second World War, and in the tropical jungle it is easy to stumble upon a rusty tank.

Turkmenistan

The difficulties of visiting the country are caused not at all by the inaccessibility and location, but by the obstacles in obtaining a visa, which is issued to units. Turkmenistan is one of the most closed countries in the world and, as a result, one of the most mysterious.

A tourist visiting the country is obliged to follow strict rules: you cannot change a pre-booked hotel, you need to arrive at the hotel in the evening no later than 10 pm, an overnight stay outside the hotel is impossible, otherwise there will be a fine and deportation. It is forbidden to visit a friend, relative or acquaintance in an apartment or a private house, moving around the country only along a pre-compiled route and accompanied by a guide.

In general, Turkmenistan is a great place for those nostalgic for the Soviet Union, many of whose artifacts are perfectly preserved here, including totalitarian rule.
