These places are worth visiting at least once in a lifetime: Part I

The best way to learn a new language, feel a new culture, enjoy incredible nature is to travel! We have compiled for you a list of those places that are definitely worth visiting at least once in your life.

Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia

On the territory of the reserve, you can see reservoirs of incredible blue color, caves and forests, rare birds and animals live here. You can't swim in the lakes, but you can go boating and look at the beauty of the reserve from the water. The park is open all year round, but in winter some of the territories are closed to the public.

Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany

This castle was built in the XIX century specifically for Ludwig II, who wanted to live in seclusion, but he lived there for only a few months, but after his death, the castle became open to all visitors. Neuschwanstein Castle, located on a mountain, is visible from afar. The height of the mountain was even reduced by eight meters for construction.

Anyone can visit the castle today, walk through the beautifully decorated rooms (especially the throne room), there is an observation deck overlooking the Alps, reservoirs and Hohenschwangau Castle, where Ludwig spent his childhood.

Castles of the Loire in France

Among the vineyards and incredible gardens, there are buildings from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. There are quite a few castles here, of course, ideally you should see them all, but if you have limited time, we recommend seeing only the most famous ones: Chenonceau, Blois, Chambord or Saumur.

The Loire area from Sully-sur-Loire to Chalons, where the castles are located, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Venice in Italy

The beauty of this city is fascinating: narrow streets, incredibly beautiful buildings and St. Mark's Square, of course, boats with gondoliers. Be sure to ride along the canals! Many people complain that Venice is too dirty, smells of mud, but this is definitely not a reason to refuse to visit the city, which inspired eminent writers and artists.

It is better to come to Venice not during the Venice Carnival: it will be difficult to find accommodation and get into museums without queues. In 2025, it will run from February 14 to March 4.

Preikestolen Rock in Norway

The cliff where the Preikestolen viewpoint is located is ten thousand years old. It offers incredible views of the fjord. A little higher is the Kjørag plateau with the large Kjøragbolten stone, which is stuck between the rocks: daredevils can climb it and take pictures, but we would not advise taking risks, because it hangs about a kilometer above the ground.

It is best to go to the rock in summer, and you need to be physically fit, because the ascent is quite steep. Dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes that will not slip on the rocks.

The province of Lapland in Finland

This is the birthplace of the local Santa Claus - Joulupukki. There is a lot of snow in the province, you can catch the northern lights, and you can also ride reindeer. If you like winter active sports, then come to one of the ski resorts, or just rent a house, walk through the snow-covered forests, go to the residence of the local Santa Claus.

Lapland will be suitable for those who are not afraid of frost, because in winter the temperature here can drop to -50. But you can also come here in the summer: there are fewer tourists, and the landscapes remain, in principle, just as picturesque.

The Aletsch Glacier in Switzerland

This glacier is the largest in the Bernese Alps. Its length is 23 kilometers! As part of the tour, walk along the rocks, around the lakes and breathe in the fresh air. In winter, tourists come here to ski resorts, and in summer - just to admire the local nature. Do not forget to take comfortable clothes, shoes - and get ready for long walks.

Trolltunga Rock in Norway

The second name of the ledge on Mount Skjeggedal is "Troll's Tongue". It is similar to the neighboring rock - Preikestolen. Trolltung offers incredible views of the lake. It is best to come here from July to September, because in other months climbing the cliff will be dangerous. Be sure to bring comfortable clothes and boots.

Blue Lagoon Resort in Iceland

An incredible resort with milky blue water, which is surrounded by solidified lava, and the water temperature reaches +40 degrees. At the bottom there is white clay, which is often added to various cosmetics.

There are many saunas and baths at the resort, and since many people come here to improve their health, there is a whole clinic where doctors will tell you how to properly treat your particular ailment.

Lake Bled in Slovenia

The water in the lake is deep blue. Bled is surrounded by cliffs and forests, and in the middle there is a small island on which the chapel of the same name is built. Next to the shore is a rock, on top of which stands the Bled Castle, built in the X century. In summer, you can swim and walk around the castles, and in winter you can try out ski resorts.
