Switzerland is often cited as the most expensive country to study for international students. The cost of educational institutions depends primarily on their type. Within the framework of school education, there are 2 types of educational institutions:
- public schools are budget educational institutions, but only residents of the country can study here.
- private schools - these educational institutions are accredited to admit foreign students to study. In addition to the national diploma (Swiss Maturité), they offer a number of the most demanded international educational programs: IB, American High School, A-Level, French Baccalaureate and Abitur. Private schools often have their own boarding house where students can live. The cost of private schools in Switzerland starts at 44,000 francs per year (including room and board).
After completing 12 grades of school, graduates enter universities.
Universities in Switzerland are also divided into public and private. Education in state universities is offered mainly in German, but there are programs in other state languages of the country (French and Italian), there are a number of programs in English. Studying at public universities in Switzerland for foreigners costs the same as for local students - about 2500 francs per year.
In private universities, education is conducted mainly in English. Most private universities have partnerships with a number of large European companies and offer excellent career opportunities for their graduates. Tuition fees in private universities for foreign students start at 15,000 francs per year.
Foreign students with 11 years of school education, in order to enter the first year of bachelor's degree in Switzerland, must either complete 1 course of a university, or (which is a more reliable option that allows them to enter rating institutions) complete the last 2 classes of school in Switzerland.
