The university was founded in 1994 on the basis of CJSC "Business Center", created for the purpose of education personnel and information services for enterprises, organizations and individuals (the original name of the university at its state registration is "Higher School of Managerial Personnel").
SPbUTUiE is the largest non-state university in the North-West of Russia, working under the scientific and methodological guidance of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The university has implemented an effective system of continuing education in the programs of the college, bachelor's, master's, postgraduate and additional education.

For students in need of a dormitory, the university has a hotel building in the Pushkinsky UGK. The territory of the complex is equipped with security and fire protection systems, video surveillance. It is equipped with 107 rooms with 286 beds, each room has its own separate bathroom and shower.

On the basis of the Center for Youth Projects and Student Initiatives of the University there are creative teams of various directions (choir, vocal and instrumental ensemble, vocal group "Kaleidoscope", contemporary dance studio "Euphoria", KVN team, intellectual leisure club "Schrödinger's Cat", student media center). – "Student Kaleidoscope". Poetry evenings of the literary club of SPbUTUiE are regularly held, where everyone can read and discuss with those present their author's or favorite works of different genres.
Students engaged in the student media center cover the life of the university through the eyes of students in the social network "VKontakte".
Students of SPbUTUiE demonstrate their talents at a variety of city and all-Russian events: competitions, concerts, festivals.
Students of the university and college regularly take part in city sports competitions: the All-Russian running holiday "Cross of the Nation" in St. Petersburg, the Spartakiad for youth of the Pushkin district, the youth patriotic event THE GTO Race "The Way of Unity", the City Youth Festival "Be NOT Independent", etc.

Facilities and equipment at St. Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics, SPbUTUiE
To organize the educational process, the university has buildings and premises with a total area of 18,098.8 square meters, including the area of the stadium of a wide profile. All educational buildings and premises have the necessary support: centralized hot and cold water supply, heating, artificial lighting, ventilation, as well as conditions for unhindered access and stay of persons with disabilities.
The classroom fund includes 79 classrooms connected to the Internet and equipped with technical means (computer, projector, screen, speakers), including 20 computer classes and 2 classrooms for independent work.
The university has an equipped sports hall, an open stadium of a wide profile, halls of strength education, exercise therapy, OFP, gymnastics.
To obtain the skills of initial military education, an electronic shooting range, elements of an obstacle course and special equipment at the stadium of a wide profile are used.
Medical care, health prevention, organization of preventive examinations, carrying out measures for sanitary and hygienic education of students and employees of the university is carried out on the basis of medical centers located in the educational and laboratory complex "Lermontovsky" and the educational and hotel complex "Pushkinsky".
The structure of the university includes the Publishing and Printing Center, which includes its own printing house, which has modern printing, multiplying and binding equipment.

Admission dates and extra charges
When organizing the educational process in SPbUTUiE by semesters or trimesters, 2 semesters or 3 trimesters are allocated within each course. The academic year begins on September 1, but the university can postpone the start of the academic year by no more than 2 months.
In addition to tuition fees, additional costs will include payment for accommodation (for non-residents), travel, meals, leisure and other expenses.
Enrolment process
Applicants to SPbUTUiE provide an application for admission with the following documents attached:
- identity document, citizenship;
- a document on the formation of the established sample (one or several);
- SNILS (if any);
- a document confirming disability or disability;
- documents confirming the individual achievements of the applicant (at the discretion);

- two photos.
Acceptance of documents begins on June 1.
