The well-known private board of Southwestern Academy was founded in 1924: a mixed form of education was immediately accepted here (both boys and girls are taught on equal terms) and two equivalent campuses are based - one in San Marino (California), the other in Rimrock (Arizona). Educational programs - the course of middle and high school (+ graduating classes and preparation for the university). On both campuses, the same schedule and content of the curriculum are accepted, so students can participate in the internal school "student exchange" and study on another campus for a week, a month or even a semester.
Teachers practice an individual, personal approach to each student - classes include only 8-12 students, which gives each person maximum personal attention. Especially often this support is required for foreign students who first came to study in another country. In total, 30 specialists teach at both campuses - among them there are young teachers, and professors with vast experience (including with foreign students). The teaching principle includes a large number of interactive classes, a constant change in the format of lessons, oral work with the class and the maximum involvement of each student in the learning process.
The total number of Academy students today reaches 195 people: 50 study in Arizona (13 years), 145 in California (admission from 11 years), including 35 foreigners representing More than 25 foreign countries. All educational classes are formed, not based on the age of the students, but on their academic performance, achievements, level of knowledge. For example, a student of grade 9 may well enroll in an algebra courseII , an advanced level with alumni if he "pulls" this complexity.
The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), occupies 44th in the ranking of the best private academies (according to Los Angeles Metro for 2016).
Graduates of the school enroll in the most prestigious and elite universities in the US and around the world, for example:
Quick overview: For international students of grades 5-9, a campus in San Marino is available (it accepts students from 6th to 12th grade and preparatory courses).

The intensity of the classes helps to prepare well for enrolling in the chosen university - in general the whole program for high school students is built on the basis of the entrance requirements of the prestigious University of California. Foreign students can attend intensive supportive courses "English as a foreign language" (ESL), engage in the Summer School.
Quick overview: A fascinating summer course for schoolchildren from around the world is offered at the Academy on both campuses: it is an excellent opportunity to tighten up your English while resting and spending time with pleasure in the company of new friends.
A general English program (General English course) is offered, if desired, the classes "English as a Foreign Language" (ESL), preparatory lessons on GPA, SAT, TOEFL can be added to the plan. All lessons are conducted in small classes with active involvement of interactive, game forms: thus new information is remembered as quickly and easily as possible, practically without the efforts of the students.
In our free time, a lot of leisure and entertainment activities are organized for students of the summer school:
Directly on the campus in San Marino are male residences (double rooms), women's dormitories are about 1.5-2 kilometers (rooms for 2-4 people) - daily school staff organize a convenient quick transfer. Living rooms for rest, quiet classes for self-study and student kitchens pupils can visit absolutely freely, in general access to the floors there are also bathrooms.
In Rimrock, all international students live on the school grounds - they are provided with cozy, fully furnished and equipped with necessary equipment rooms for 2-3 people, which can be furnished to your liking. Bathrooms, toilets and kitchens are in free public access, as well as classes for classes and lounges for recreation.
Boarding: on weekdays three times a day, on weekends - twice (brunch and dinner). The diet is varied and balanced, completely covers all the needs of the young organism and is ready to surprise the students with something delicious every day.
The extra-curricular program of the Academy enables students to succeed not only in the academic, but also in the creative, social and sports fields. There are several clubs and communities of interest on a regular basis, volunteer and charity projects, creative sessions, exhibitions and performances are organized. Especially worth noting is the developed dramatic art - on both campuses every year several performances and plays are organized, which are almost entirely organized by the students themselves.
Students can also practice music (singing in choir or solo, playing musical instruments), improve in painting, drawing or computer graphics, study multimedia directions, fashion design or general theory and art history.
Students keep up with the sport: thanks to the fact that the school is a member of the School Federation of California, it constantly participates in various tournaments and competitions - basketball, football, volleyball, tennis, running, baseball and other sports. Campus students in Rimrock can take part in the sporting events of the Northern Arizona Sports Conference: most often volleyball, golf, basketball, horse riding, football, cross country. Beaver Creek is located almost in the neighborhood of a huge forest reserve, which opens tremendous opportunities for equestrian sport, hikes and walks, excursions to environmental themes, astronomical observations, fishing, mountain biking.
