Description of SBS Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia

Since 1933, the SBS Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia has been educated highly qualified specialists in the field of fire safety of the population and the territory of the country. The Academy is the leading educational, methodological and scientific center of Russia.

Educational process

The educational process of cadets in the Academy of the State Border Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia is strictly regulated by local regulatory legal acts.

  • The day of cadets begins with a rise at 06:00 in the morning and ends with a break at 22:00. On Saturday, Sunday, pre-holidays and holidays - the rise and fall are made 1 hour later.
  • Daily classes are held from 09:00 to 17:00. Time is allocated for self-preparation and electives - from 15:30 to 17:55.
  • From 20:20 to 21:30 — free time.

Changes in the curriculum are communicated to cadets by group commanders or course sergeants.

Scientific achievements

Every year, about 80 research conferences are held on the basis of the SBS Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. Research conducted by students and teachers of the Academy is aimed at solving issues in the field of improving the activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the problems of fire safety of the country, civil defense and protection of the population and territory of the Russian Federation from emergency situations.

The Academy publishes two scientific journals:

  • "Technospheric Security Technologies";
  • "Fires and Emergencies: Prevention, Elimination".

The main partner of the Academy is the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters.

Specialists from 10 countries are educated at the Institute for Foreign Citizens of the Academy: Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Abkhazia, Cuba, Armenia, Vietnam, South Ossetia, etc.

The SBS Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia was awarded the Order of Friendship of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam three times.

Activities SBS Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia

Since 2012, the Youth Union has been operating at the Academy of the State Border Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, sports and mass, intellectual, educational and volunteer events are held annually. During the academic year, cadets are organized visits to museums, concerts, exhibitions and theaters of the city.

Facilities and equipment at SBS Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia

At the disposal of the Academy there are two educational buildings in the Alekseevsky district of Moscow. You can get to the Academy by metro to the stations "VDNKh" or "Sergei Eisenstein Street".

On the territory of the Academy there is a ground for practicing coordinated actions during an emergency, a fire department has been created, completely repeating the working conditions in the bodies of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a fire tower has been installed, consisting of the tower itself, a safety cushion and a path for take-off.

All lecture halls are equipped with modern computers and projectors. Separately equipped computer classes with Internet access, laboratories for practical classes.

At the disposal of the Academy are additionally: a library, two sports halls, a wrestling hall, a swimming pool, a dining room and a buffet.

On the territory of the Academy there is its own polyclinic for 16 beds.

Admission dates and extra charges

The academic year at the SBS Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia begins on September 1 and is divided into two semesters (the first lasts from September 1 to December 25), at the end of each an examination session is organized. Cadets of the Academy are provided with vacation holidays: winter - 14 days and summer - 30 days.

The main expenses during education at the Academy include payment for accommodation in a hostel. The expenses for meals in the canteen and tailoring of uniforms are borne by the Academy.

Students of the Academy have the right to a day off, which is regulated on Sunday. On this day, the cadet can write an application for dismissal.

Enrolment process

When entering the Academy of the State Border Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the position of a cadet, young people need:

  • Submit an application to the Main Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia at the place of residence;
  • Pass the military medical commission at the place of residence;
  • Pass a professional selection (psychological examination);
  • Successfully pass the unified state exam.

When submitting an application to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the subject of the Russian Federation, a personal file is formed for each candidate. Upon successful completion of the selection, the applicant in the framework of the admission campaign will need to pass:

  • Medical examination;
  • Psychological selection;
  • Successfully pass the internal entrance tests in physical fitness and mathematics.

Applicants entering on the basis of secondary vocational education will need to pass specialized exams.

Minimum passing scores on the Unified State Exam:

  • Russian language —36;
  • Mathematics , 27;
  • Physics — 36.

Enrolment statistics

To date, about 800 cadets are educated at the AGPS of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia at the levels of education  "Specialist" and "Bachelor's Degree". The most popular area of education is "Fire Safety" - 251 people and "Technospheric Safety" (profile "Fire Safety") - 484 people.

Perspectives

Admission to the Academy is carried out under an agreement on targeted education, according to which the main condition is the obligation of the cadet to serve in the bodies of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation within the established period and in accordance with the qualifications obtained.

Civilian students of the Academy of the State Border Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia are regularly informed by the university administration about the availability of vacant places for employment.

Graduates of the Academy upon graduation from the university receive positions in large commercial and state organizations: Transneft OJSC, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Department of Personnel Policy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the State Budgetary Institution Mosstroyinform, etc.
