Things to know about
The Institute is the only state film school in the Russian Federation that has its own educational film studio with full technical equipment for the production of films and videos.

Accommodation, meals, prices
VGIK has at its disposal a hostel within Moscow for accommodation of nonresident students, graduate students and assistant trainees. Block-type dormitory, in each block there are two rooms in which 2 people can live. A five-minute walk from the building are chain grocery stores, opposite you can find a copy center.

Educational activities of the university are conducted in one main building. Students are provided with more than 20 workshops and 7 lecture halls with a modern technical base: projectors and screens for the reproduction of cinematography; 4 computer classes, 3 filming pavilions, 6 laboratories, dance, fencing classes and an educational theater. Also, for recreation and study, a working space is organized for students - coworking and a cinema and concert hall. For sports, the university offers students a multifunctional sports hall.
VGIK has a powerful production and technical base, having at its disposal the Educational Film Studio, which consists of 5 pavilions with a total area of 1130 square meters. m. To shoot educational, course and diploma works, students can use the park of filming and lighting equipment, a warehouse of costumes and props, a make-up and post-making base, a workshop of decorative and technical structures and an installation and tinting complex.
Admission dates and extra charges
In VGIK, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each of them, an examination session is held, after which students are given holidays (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).

Admission to the university is carried out according to the results of the Unified State Exam:
- Russian language — 65;
- Literature — 50.
In addition, the applicant must pass an interview with the commission, after which it is necessary to pass special creative exams that differ from each other depending on the chosen faculty. Minimum scores for entrance tests:
- Creative Orientation Test – 41;
- Professional orientation test — 41.
For admission to master's programs, a completed higher education is required.
