Description of Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property, WGAIS

WGAIS is the only institute in Russia for the education of highly qualified personnel on topical issues of creation and protection of intellectual property.

Scientific achievements

Every year, students of the RSAIS under the guidance of the teaching staff take an active part in various scientific competitions and research conferences.

Round tables on topical issues of modern society are organized on the basis of WGAIS. One of the last topics of the event was "Problematic aspects of conducting examinations on disputes about intellectual property rights".

Things to know about

The main business partner of the Institute is the Federal Service for Intellectual Property – Rospatent.

In 2019, an Agreement of Intent was signed between WGAIS and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University College for Innovation (Jordan).

In 2014, an open-ended Agreement on cooperation in the field of legal protection of intellectual activity was signed between WGAIS and Jacobacci & Partners (Italy).

Accommodation, meals, prices

At the disposal of the RSAIS there is a hostel for 220 seats, non-resident students are allocated 30 places. Cost of living:

  • 2300 rubles per month - full-time undergraduate students studying at the expense of the budget;
  • 2500 rubles per month - full-time undergraduate students on a contractual (commercial) basis

In the educational building of the institute there is a canteen where students can have lunch in between pairs.

Activities Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property, WGAIS

Student life at WGAIS is filled with interesting events. In their free time, students have no time to be bored! The children participate in sports events both at the institute level and at the inter-university level, they are given excursions to the museums of the city and to large industries.

Students participate in various competitions dedicated to the Great Patriotic War.

In 2022, the "IP Summer Academy" was organized for RGAIS students in Sochi. Here, students participated in business and intellectual games, master classes and in individual consultations with forensic experts and specialists in legal creative solutions.

Facilities and equipment at Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property, WGAIS

The RGAIS building is located in the Konkovo district of Moscow, a 5-minute walk from the Belyaevo metro station. 

The classrooms of the university are equipped with everything necessary for conducting lecture classes: modern computers, acoustic speakers, projectors and projection screens, electronic boards (plasma) and magnetic-marker flipcharts, information stands.

In the educational building of the institute there is an additional sports hall, a library, a medical center and a dining room.

Admission dates and extra charges

The academic year at the university begins on September 1 and ends on June 30. It is divided into two semesters. At the end of each semester, an examination session is organized, which lasts approximately 21 days. Holidays 2 times a year: winter (2 weeks) and summer (2 months).

The main expenses for university students are: accommodation (payment for the hostel), transportation and meals.

Enrolment process

Applicants are given the opportunity to submit documents in two ways: in person to the admission committee of the university or remotely through the portal "Public Services". Admission to the WGAIS is conducted from June 20 to July 14. The candidate must submit the following package of documents to the admissions committee:

  • Application for admission to the university;
  • Document on education (certificate or diploma);
  • Identity and citizenship document (passport);
  • SNILS (copy);
  • 2 photos 3×4cm ;
  • Documents confirming the rights to benefits and other special rights;
  • Documents confirming the presence of individual achievements;
  • Results of the Unified State Exam or internal written testing.

Minimum scores according to the results of the Unified State Exam:

  • Russian language – 36;
  • Mathematics – 27;
  • Social Studies – 42;
  • History – 32;
  • Informatics and information and communication technologies (ICT) – 40;
  • Foreign language – 22.

Enrolment statistics

The WGAIS currently has about 700 students. The most popular area of study is "Jurisprudence": 34 people entered the first year of the full-time department.

For a more convenient job search for a graduate, current vacancies are posted on the official website of the RSAIS. In addition, students of the WGAIS can attend an open selection event for vacancies, where each applicant for a vacant position can communicate with representatives of large companies and find the ideal option for themselves.
