Rostov State Medical University (RostSMU) is an institution of higher education, the largest scientific and medical center of the south of Russia.

The history of the university began in 1915, when the Faculty of Medicine at the Russian University of Warsaw was recognized. Five years later, the first graduation of 295 medical specialists took place. In subsequent years, the university was transformed by joining institutes, changing its name, and in 1994 RostSMU received its current name and a list of still operating faculties:

There are more than 90 departments at the faculties, where more than 800 doctors, candidates of sciences, professors teach.

In RostSMU you can get a bachelor's, specialist's, master's, resident's or postgraduate education. Also at the university there is a medical college, where students can get a diploma of secondary vocational education.

Students of the institution live in five dormitories, one of which is prepared to accommodate people with disabilities.

• Dormitories No. 1, 2, 3: five-storey buildings with 96-166 residential double, triple rooms. Kitchens, showers and toilets are shared.
• Dormitories No. 4, 5: two nine-storey buildings with 540 seats. Residential buildings are equipped with a block system - in each block there are two rooms for two or three people, showers and toilets. Kitchens in the buildings are located on each floor.

Five large-scale annual events are organized at the university by the creative team:

• "Day of Knowledge" – September 1
• New Year's Eve Celebration
• Women's day on March 8
• Patriotic concert in honor of Victory Day
• Prom.

The creative team conducts regular classes in dance, music, theater studios. Recruitment to groups takes place at the beginning of each academic year.

Student medical teams specialize in vacation recreation of children in camps, assistance in city clinics, participation in recreational activities.

The Military-Patriotic Club organizes master classes of military training, excursions to historically important places of Russia, team games in paintball and airsoft, works with veterans participating in the Great Patriotic War.

The sports center of the university hosts group and individual training in team sports: football, basketball, volleyball. Students have the opportunity to use gyms, areas for aerobics.
