PhD Program

The PhD program is run in conjunction with the University of East London, so students are registered with both the university and the college. Under the guidance of experienced researchers and subject teachers, students study in groups of 5-10 people, mastering the skills of conducting research work in the fields of art.

Foundation Courses, Preparatory Courses

  • The studying period is six to seven months.

Rose Bruford College offers two specializations of preparatory courses, thanks to which school graduates will be able to gain basic knowledge and skills before entering direct admission to higher education programs.

Acting

The 6-month course will provide students with ideal preparation for continuing their professional studies in theater schools at the bachelor's and master's levels, starting a career. Students enrolled in this course benefit from a dedicated week of full-time professional preparation. It provides an opportunity to review resumes, take part in trial auditions under the guidance of experienced professionals and casting directors.

The curriculum includes more than 25 hours of classes per week, taking place from 9:00 to 21:00. In addition to lectures and practical preparation in specialized studios, students will have master classes on creating an audition portfolio, audition techniques, acting through song, clowning, stage combat and other aspects of acting.

During the course, two full-fledged rehearsal projects are provided - the study of the modern stage in the first semester and the study of Shakespeare in the second + weekly master classes with invited professional directors and theater companies.

Dance, musical theater

This course includes the study of three disciplines: acting, singing and dance, develops students' basic preparation in musical theatre performance to facilitate admission to leading performing arts colleges.

Studying lasts for three semesters, each week includes 27 hours of academic time. The schedule is structured with an equal amount of dancing, singing, and acting. Group lessons in each subject are taught by experienced teachers, with lots of individual attention, ensuring that each student develops their abilities as they progress through the course.

Almost every new admission to the college is also attended by foreign applicants who are representatives of Europe, the Middle East, Ukraine and others.

Educational process

The college conducts research on contemporary performance practices, including theatre for young spectators, European and American acting techniques, set design and lighting for performances, and Stanislavsky techniques. The Christopher Court residence, located opposite the railway station and a 10-minute walk from the campus, has 168 en-suite rooms, shared kitchens with all necessary appliances for every five residents, laundry facilities. The price of accommodation involves a number of services, including round-the-clock friendly staff and security, utility bills, fast and reliable broadband Internet.

At the end of the first academic year, some students choose to live off-campus, using the contacts of trusted landlords.

Since most of the offered housing options are equipped with kitchens, students are responsible for their own meals. On the studying grounds, next to the residence, there are dozens of cafeterias, restaurants, bars.
