The Institute of Special Pedagogy and Psychology named after R. Wallenberg (ISPiP) is the first non-state higher institution in the country specializing in the education of specialists in the field of special psychology and correctional pedagogy. Graduates of the university become employees of correctional organizations, orphanages, boarding schools, rehabilitation centers.

Education takes place in three areas - psychology, pedagogy, fitness - at six departments:

Activities R. Wallenberg Institute of Special Pedagogy and Psychology, ISPiP

A club "Metaphysics of Culture" has been opened in the ISPiP, where various issues of student subculture, morality, and ethics are discussed. For more than ten years, the Student Council has existed at the university, managing all extracurricular activities, which is part of the Youth Council of the Frunzensky District Administration. The Student Council publishes the newspaper "Vremya ISPiP".

Students are actively engaged in social support of the population, volunteering as part of the Volunteer Agency. Every year, students organize the action "New Year's Gift for Children!" in correctional schools.

Regularly the university hosts thematic parties, concerts: "Teacher's Day", "Victory Day", "Dedication to students", etc.

For athletes at the university, various sections are open, according to which interdepartmental, inter-university, city competitions are held. The ISPiP team is a prize-winner of the International Universiade in the specialty "AFC". In 2013, students of the university became silver medalists in the World Winter Games of the Special Olympics in South Korea.

The KVN team annually performs in the St. Petersburg Championship.

The ISPiP campus is located near the city center, next to the Obvodny Canal metro station.

The educational process takes place in equipped classrooms and practical rooms. At the university work:

Events are held in specially prepared premises. During breaks, students can place a dining room, a library with a reading room.

The academic year consists of two semesters: autumn and spring. Each semester is followed by a session: winter and summer.

Postgraduate students can study in one of three forms: full-time, part-time and applicant for a duration of 3, 4, 5 years, respectively. The academic year for all forms and stages of education begins in the autumn - from September to November.
