Upper School: 9-12th Grade
- Age of students — from 14 years old,
- The studying period is four years.
Marshall School offers an academically intensive high school program, which is aimed at preparing students for college. Students complete a curriculum that includes core subjects: English, mathematics, natural sciences, social studies, and World language, as well as additional compulsory courses in computer science, fine arts, health care, and physical education. Core courses are offered at the College Preparatory, Honors, and Advanced Placement levels.
In the 10th grade, students can receive Honors qualifications in the following subjects:
- American literature,
- History of the USA,
- Chemistry.
In grades 11-12, they will be able to obtain:
- Honors: British Literature,
- AP: World History, English, US Politics.
To successfully graduate from school, students need to complete a community service course of 10 hours per year. The purpose of the elective is to provide an experience, allowing students to learn the value of the ideals of society: service to others and the community, this concept is put into practice through service to non—profit organizations and work on campus. Students who have worked more than 100 hours in one academic year are eligible for the Centurion Award.
Forest School Program: Kindergarten-4th Grade

- The studying period is four to five years.
Forest School is an early childhood program which stipulates instruction from kindergarten through fourth grade.
The foundation of the program is a supportive, diverse, and stimulating academic environment – students spend about 50% of their time outdoors, studying in the nature of the 42-acre campus. The curriculum is based on the acquisition of important skills by students, the ability to communicate and social activity, the development of physical and intellectual abilities. The schedule includes classes in reading, writing and arithmetic, which are held in a game format - so children remember information faster. Under the guidance of a qualified teacher, they receive comprehensive support and extensive opportunities to realize both academic, creative, sports, research abilities at an early stage.
Upon completing the program, students have a strong base of core knowledge and skills which contribute to continued success in the transition to secondary school.
Middle School: 5-8th Grade
- Age of students – from 10 years,
- The period of study is four years,
In the middle grades, students are waited for a diverse curriculum filled with studying of various subjects, additional electives, extracurricular opportunities to develop strengths. From grades 5 to 8, students will study:
- English language
- Math
- Science
- Fine Arts,
- Performing arts to choose from: string instruments, choir, music group,
- Spanish or French,
- History of the United States,
- Attend physical education classes,
- Social Sciences,
- Geography and other disciplines.
Gradually, starting from the 5th grade, the curriculum will be added with subjects to expand the interdisciplinary approach and horizons of students. Studying takes place in small classes, each student receives individual attention from qualified teachers.
Middle school students have the opportunity to participate in various clubs and activities: sports teams, STEM groups (such as Lego Robotics), musical ensembles. Extracurricular areas will allow children to master new directions, develop their talent and achieve personal success.
Pathway Programs, University Preparation Programs

- The duration of studying is two to three years.
Several preparatory programs are available at Marshall that will help high school students deepen their academic knowledge and gain practical skills in the preffered direction of the chosen college/university.
Students can begin specialized preparation in parallel with the study of the main curriculum in grades 10-11.
- The STEM Scholars Pathway program focuses on the STEM field: mathematics, science, technology, computer science, developing students' abilities to solve problems, communicate effectively, think creatively, and become engaged and ethical citizens. Academic electives of the profile are flexibly integrated into the curriculum, allowing students to combine obtaining a basic degree and preparation for the chosen specialization of further education,
- The Outdoor Experiences Pathway program emphasizes connecting students to nature and the open world while developing the skills needed to work and lead outdoor and camping recreation. Students are invited to choose from two directions: "Practice of learning in nature" or "Outdoor recreation". The curriculum will include classes at the Forest School at Marshall School, internships, lessons in first aid, safety rules in nature, and the organization of tourist events.
Completing a specialized preparatory course will allow students to obtain additional qualifications, thereby starting the path to professional activity even before completing school education.

Marshall School is the oldest coeducational independent preparatory school in the city of Duluth and northern Minnesota. The American school operates on a co–educational system: the average number of students in a class is 15, and the ratio of teachers to students is 1:10. International students can enroll in the program for grades 8-12.
Marshall School is located in one of the largest cities in Minnesota – Duluth (the fourth largest in the state), on the shores of the huge freshwater Lake Superior (the largest in the world by area!). Also in Duluth there is a unique, the only freshwater aquarium in the USA — the Aquarium of the Great Lakes, the amazing Aerial Lift Bridge, which connects the banks of the canal and is located at the confluence of the canal into the lake. Minneapolis, the state capital, is a 2-hour drive away.
The territory has its own museum, a theater troupe and a symphony orchestra work, and a strong technical circle is unusually developed.
Accommodation, meals, prices
All students live in the on-campus dormitory called Marshall House. The dormitory offers single rooms with common shared spaces throughout the dormitory. Shared spaces include a kitchen and dining room, a Global Learning Center, a recreation room, and an outdoor courtyard.
Meals are provided by the school cafeteria during the school day. Dinners and meals on the weekend are provided to the students in the dormitory. Students have access to the Marshall House kitchen to prepare their meals if they desire.

Marshall School has a huge number of clubs, and interest groups. In their free time, students will be able to fully demonstrate their abilities and talents, and find like—minded people.

Facilities and equipment at Marshall School
The 42-acre campus has its own ice hockey arena, two soccer fields, one lacrosse field, tennis courts, a Nordic ski course, a gymnasium for basketball and volleyball, an indoor turf field, and a wellness center. The main school building includes art spaces, a spacious dining room, the Hilltop Cafe, and an auditorium that seats 750 people.
Admission dates and extra charges
It is recommended that applications be submitted by March.
The cost for academic year includes tuition, room and board.
Additional fees not included in tuition are visa fees, insurance, and transportation to and from Marshall School.
